Mountain biking 1:30:00 [3]

From home to Dalliefour by the DW most of the way. A celebration of the Dess Burn bridge completion. Sadly still got my feet wet trying to cross birdman's bog trench ;-( Felt rubbish at the start (too early) but good by the time I got there - just in time for junior training.

Orienteering 30:00 [3]

Lead TS round a warm-up to trample the bracken for the whites, then picked up controls at the top of the hill at the end.
12 PM

Mountain biking 10:00 [3]

Cycled the track up the hill to collect controls then enjoyed the whizz back down after.

Lovely ride with E from Dalliefour up tracks on the E side of the Muick, across by the road bridge then back down through Allt Cailleach and round the Knock. Out for 80' or so.

Running hills 48:00 [5]

24 x 1' +1' reps up Pressendye with J. Felt really tough, especially towards the top where it's steep and I was f***ed.

Running 50:00 [2]

From Tarland out to the start of the Pressendye climb, then back from the top after. Felt awful on the warm-up and wasn't sure the session was going to happen, but it was ok once I got going. Completely run out of steam by the end.

Stopped off at Carnie woods for a wee jog. Feeling much bouncier today, but going to take things steady.

Running intervals 30:00 [5]

Really struggling with tiredness today, but legs recovered so managed a set of 5x4'+4' with J. on the railway E of Aboyne and then heading up the hill from Boddomend. Last 4' up the hill was tough.

Running 35:00 [3]

Out through castle ground, woods and golf course and back the same way. Disappointed but not surprised to discover that birdman has excavated a 3m wide 0.5m deep trench across the old railway to let the marsh drain in, and replaced one of the gates with a solid metal barrier. Stopped to drag a fallen tree across the trench to make a bridge.

Too knackered to contemplate going out again for Maroc club night.

Orienteering race 1:29:00 [5]

SOL and SHIs at Errochty - short brown. Caught Alison C at no 2 and then we played cat and mouse the whole way round. Was running and navigating well and it mostly felt good apart from some of the hills. Mistake at no 15 where I got confused by veg boundaries and where we'd emerged from the green. Other than that just a few hesitations.
Took a few SHI scalps. Happy ;-)

Less than planned when I realised my start time was earlier than I thought. Really not very well prepared for a race.

Running 51:00 [2]

Leading Maroc short-long run at Scolty. Round the back, up onto the top, across the open by diagonal path, then back round through the forest. Mostly acting as back marker and trying to rein in the enthusiastic puppies at the front. At the end one (11-year old) asked if he could do the 90 minute run next time!
Amazing day again but v cold at the start.

Running 50:00 [3]

With J from track N of Ballogie / Potties junction along to Birse rd by Balfour house. Reps up the big Birse track to the edge of the forest, then back down the old path through the woods to rejoin inward track. Haven't been that way for years, but would make a nice little MTB circuit.
Both feeling tired - had planned going all the way up Carnferg, but thought better of it.

Didn't stretch last night and hamstrings really tight and sore today. Short loop round H'head, stopping a couple of times to stretch out. Helped a bit. Nice day and didn't feel so cold in the sun.

Last Tuesday Glen T session for this year. 10 x 2'+ 1' round the 2 bridges. First 6 with a group, then on my own as the rest went off to do some hills. Back by the mill pond just in time to beat the dark.

Orienteering race 1:03:00 [5]

Blue course at Pannanich. Decided against plodding round a brown and focussed on "racing" a blue instead. Mostly went well and felt I was attacking it. Unfortunately skipped ahead of myself at the top of the hill and left 11 thinking I was at 12. Was puzzled by why the map didn't fit heading to 13, but didn't realise until the finish. Doooh. ;-)
Enjoyed Pannanich otherwise - some lovely bits of forest.

Good long lie in this morning and feeling brighter. Hard not to on another cracking September Saturday.
From the tennis courts to the bottom of the Fingle, then hill reps up to the Guard, turning right and on to the mast.Back down the face to the hill race route and return by outward route from the Fungle.

Didn't feel great on the warm up but thought that some reps might help get rid of my lethargy. It did, and was going quite well once I got into it. Squeezed in 15 x 1'+1' to the mast.

Met J to catch up on yesterday's missed intervals on the DW from Aboyne. Did the first 4' but felt like I wasn't going any faster than a plod, so just jogged the rest. Feeling generally drained - work stresses and lack of sleep mainly to blame.

Forvie SOL short brown. So this was never destined to be a great performance after the last couple of days, but was hoping it would be nice enough to get me inspired. Sadly there was just too much dead running. Not really into O at the mo. Bring on the nights to get me going again!

Maroc long run in Glen Tanar. Up onto the hills betwen the glen and S Deeside. Amazing day - one of the best this summer - and great to be out enjoying it with like minded folk. Steady pace with lots of stops. Out for 2h total.

4 x 4' + 4' on the hill N side of the Tanar above the old hut. Not feeling great and not moving very fast.

From Stableyard out to start of hills.Then did a quick reccy of the old path off the hill track to check (a) that it's still there and (b) that I can find it, before trying to take folks running there tomorrow ;-)

5 x 4' + 2' at Glen T, same as last couple of weeks. No-one there was running at my pace, but felt like I was going better than the previous times. Warmed up quicker with the lunchtime run in my legs.
