Running 2:10:00 [3]

Long run with J from Queens Loch along road to big Birse track, over to Glen Cat then Forest of Birse. Back from Birse Castle over the Fungle. Managed to run all the hills, albeit slowly, but was in all sorts of trouble by the end. Think hamstrings had stopped working and everything else was trying to compensate. Sat in the loch for a bit - not really cold enough and very muddy, but probably did some good.
Another truly minging day overhead and underfoot. Getting really fed up of this now. I want some sun.

Another run salvaged from an unpromising day - stopped off at S Greens on the way home from Dundee. Had thought about stopping sooner, but pea soup over and around the Cairn didn't appeal. Steady on the smaller paths where possible, and pushing a bit on the hills. L knee fine, r leg complaining!

Running tempo 48:00 [4]

Wasn't looking good for training today until an unexpected gap during E's tennis appeared. Through castle grounds to golf course and up into Coull, below Mortlich, then back via TW and otter bridge. Wasn't sure how the timing would work so it turned into a good pace run effort. Knee feeling 90% better - excellent.

Inflammation on knee much less, so risked a short run. Felt better barefoot on the grass than on hard surfaces.

Sluie brown course. Sloppy O and a bit of a tired plod. Knee niggling. Survived a monster w/e of training.

Official opening of the Tarland Way. Ran from Aboyne with various DR members and E on his bike. Stop off at "otter bridge" for the tape to be cut, then on to Tarland for cakes and tea (lots). Waddled out and back the same way.
Legs feeling ok apart from niggling left knee.

From home to Ballater on the DW then back by the S Deeside Rd. Wet and muddy and feet got v cold - lost all feeling on the way back. Chocolate and scone in Ballater was good, but the whole ride was harder work than I expected. Got too used to short easy E pooters I guess.

4 x 4' on the cistern track. First one felt tough but got better until the last when legs went to jelly. Distance not too bad. Didn't notice hamstring on these.

Jukola leg 4. Amazing! Found it really hard to concentrate but managed to get round without any big misses - couple of small errors in the circle and maybe not the best route in at least one place. Really happy to hold it together though. Team Maroc ~436 overall - brilliant :-)))

Training at Kuusijarvi.
~20' line, ~40' jog across to far saide and back, ~40' O
Good - reading the detail well and spiked most controls. Just a wobble in the circle at 6 and headed the wrong direction out of the control at 5.
Legs feeling much better and niggles not too noticeable. Really enjoyable terrain.

Mortlich from home, then back via Coull, far side of Aboyne loch and the railway. Feeling surprisingly strong, especially on the hills. Sat in the Dess Burn ice bath on the way back for a few mins. Good.

First time in ages that I've managed to run all the way from the gate to the top of Mortlich (mind over matter).

From Inver, headed out west on the Glen Slugain track and back the same way. Nice ride. E going not too badly after major wingeing before the ride.

Long run with J to kickstart my GWC campaign. From Potties up towards S Greens, loop round some of the tracks then out onto Tom's Cairn. Down to the road at Corsedarder and back by the roads down Glen Cat. Steady plod. A few niggles but generally ok.

Orienteering race 46:00 [5]

Middle distance at Inchmarnoch. Very scrappy start (lost time on 2-4) then got my act together a bit better. Still never felt as smooth and controlled as I should be through the terrain - more hack and hope. Legs felt pretty good muscle-wise, but left knee and tendons niggling again. Good race.

Mainly w-u, but jogged back to the cp after, feeling quite good - strange!

Completley and utterly whacked now. Not sure tomorrow's going to be very productive at work. Great w/e though.

Mountain biking 2:10:00 [4]

Checking controls for the MBO at Scolty. My body really wasn't impressed with my head for this cunning little scheme. All seems a bit surreal now and a long time ago. Single track bits were even trickier that I had anticipated but I guess it was fun in a strange kind of way. Well knackered by the time I'd run backwards and forwards from home with 2 trailer loads of bikes too. Ready for a sleep more than a sprint!

Orienteering race 26:00 [5]

Banchory sprint race. Had a cat nap in the car in the quarantine zone and felt surprisingly refreshed. Was still a bit of a plod round the course though. Slow away from the start, but otherwise no real errors, just a few hesitations. Good course.

Running warm up/down 15:00 [2]

Sore left knee and inner ankle tendons. Eased off once I had warmed up.

Scottish relays at Creag Choinnich. Tired and very unfocussed after getting bibs and juniors sorted. Enjoyed it, but made a bad mistake on no 8, ~2-3', through loss of concentration. 2nd team on H11+ after a cracking run from Paul.

Scottish champs at Glen Fearder. Steady race. Lost confidence going to 10 and climbed too high ~1'. Otherwise pretty clean and really enjoyed it. Great views from the hill top. 1st W40
