Slept in until 9:00 - luxury. Drove W to the Crozon peninsula. Left the car in Crozon, then ran a couple of km down the road to Morgat before picking up the GR34 coastal route. Followed this all the way down the E coast to the Cap de Chevre in the S, and then back up the W coast as far as the Pointe de Dinan. Absolutely classic run. First part was pine forested cliffs with the path going up and down over every little rocky promontary - excellent hill training. S end was bleaker moorland and then the W side was less severe terrain with some lovely sandy bays and quite reminiscent of parts of NW Scotland. After I'd been running for about an hour and only covered 6km, I realised I was in for a long run. It looked like about 20km on the map, but I was fully expecting it to be more in practice - and it was. Fortunately I was feeling pretty good, for the first 2 hours at least, and the sun was shining. Took a tumble at one point and realised I was tiring, but luckily the second half was generally easier running. From the Pointe de Dinan I had 5km back on the road to Crozon which was pretty slow and painful. Out for 4 hours in total, but with lots of photo stops etc.
I think this goes on my list of all time classic runs, but I would recommend finishing at the Point de Dinnes, if a lift could be arranged.
