Running hills 20:00 [4]

10 x 1' hills with jog back recovery (>1'). First one in a while so took it steady and didn't worry about distance. Need to work back up gradually. Right inner thigh felt a bit tight and legs generally heavy.

Cross-country race 23:22 [5]

Cross-country at Balgownie. Knew it would be a mental battle with tired legs and it was. Saw the Metro lass I'd beaten in the previous two races ahead and set her as my target to keep in touch, as I knew I had ~1' over her in total. Held her to ~30'', and happy to make myself run the race.

Orienteering race 1:03:00 [5]

Scottish Night champs Glen Dye. Ran course 2 (W21L). Really clean and steady - very happy. Couple of days rest helped the legs too. Cracking night and good courses.

Cramped up in inside leg above knee while stretching and then again in bed when I rolled over.

Orienteering race 54:00 [4]

Last round of the DNC at Crathes. Going nicely until no 4 when I decided to run to no 15 at the the other side of the map, then all the way back to 5 - game over. Stopped racing but quite enjoyed the rest of the run.

10 x 1' + 1' on the green. Felt knackered from the drills before even starting. Had a stitch down my left side and never felt comfortable, so jacked half way through the session. No point in flogging a dead horse.

Orienteering race 1:02:00 [5]

CSC at Faskally. Bit of a race to get to the start after the long drive round via the Slug. Started pretty well but got a bit sloppy in the middle / later parts of the race. No major problems, just not reading the detail well enough in the circle or planning ahead. Some things to tighten up on before the big races.
Foot sore again afterwards - need to keep at the ice and stretches for a while yet.

From Ballogie road up onto Arntilly Crag, through caper enclosure up onto Corybeg and then back down the track to Glencat. Never felt lively. Not being looking after myself well enough during the week at work - especially need to get more liquid on board during the day.

Orienteering race 49:00 [4]

Local event at Dess. Excellent training even knowing where most of the control sites were. Tried to work hard to make a decent physical session out of it too. Amused by DK racing past me several times, doing a few extra hill reps in the process.

Mountain biking 1:30:00 [1]

Relaxed cycle from gliding strip to Cambus bridge and back with J and E. Fantastic day. This w/e has been so much better than forecast.

From Cambus bridge west towards Ballater through Cambus, round to the Tullich Burn and through the woods to join mast track above PofB. Across the bridge in Ballater and back by the new path on the south side through Inchmarnoch. Good run at a more respectable pace than of late. Feeling alive this morning after best night's sleep in ages. Much brighter day and milder than expected too. Run was a bit longer than intended, but don't think it has done foot any harm.

Short bike ride with E round woods in Aboyne then through Castle grounds to golf course. Good excuse for hot chocolate and cake at the BFS.

Been doing lots of stretches on the foot and calfs but the standard routine has been getting forgotten.

DNC at Forvie. Really enjoyed this. Navigated really cleanly up to no 11 and then fell apart a bit at the end. Good course. Wild night - glad of hat and gloves and never overheated with them. Foot felt fine apart from tweaking my ankle slightly at one stage.

Saw the physio who had a good go at a tight bit in the plantar of my right foot. Think this should get sorted quite quickly with appropriate tlc.

CBA with the gym - enjoyed 1/2 hour poolside chat instead. Calfs much better today, but heel still tender. Time to see the physio.

Maroc run from Corsedarder west to caper enclosure, down to FoB road, along south side of river and back up through the forest. Sleet / snow the whole time, so good that we chose a sheltered route. Not sure folk were too impressed with the stream crossing though!
Foot didn't feel too bad, but must have been running tense as I could feel a tweak in my back which turned into a muscle spasm by the end. Not good now - don't know how I'm going to ceilidh dance tonight ;-{

Loosened up enough to enjoy the dancing, but stiffened up again big time after. Hmmm...

With J from Crossroads west along the ridge on the edge of the forest to the top of Craiglich. New planting up here and a vehicle track that gives ok running most of the way. Fantastic on top - perfectly still and blue skies in every direction so didn't feel cold. Met another guy up there just sitting watching the world go by. Off the top to the W and down to the track then back round the south side of the hill on track / ride to rejoin the outgoing route. Nice liitle circular. Bit of a plod again, but neither of us feeling too lively. Heel is still sore, so need to keep an eye on it.

Lots of stretching on the right calf which tightened up straight after the run. Almsot certainly linked to the heel problem which looks like plantar fasciitis.

Planned to go for a morning run but have had pain under the right heel since last nights run so taking the day off in the hope that it eases.

3 x laps of the lake on the campus at Reading. Briskish pace and pushed the last one to try and break the 10' from the first two. Maybe not Shooting greens but traffic free and unlit. Mini torch wasn't a great help.
