Orienteering 1:05:14 [4] 7.0 km (9:19 / km) +50m 9:00 / km

SOL 6 Forvie
Felt absolutely awful out there today, could not breathe or get running at all. Don't know why i felt so bad, but i walked a lot of the course.
Was not with it at all. I think i messed up almost every control - really annoyed. I just feel like i can't orienteer at all anymore, which i know isn't true really.
Got myself racing & distracted once again & lost easily 5mins + in the first part of the course just wondering around trying to relocate. Then i made the decision that i didn't care how long i took but that i was going to get it right. I stopped myself for 1min to refocus & then jogged the next 4 controls making sure i had a proper route, & an AP & a compass bearing. It worked :) I found them all. yes slowly but idc!
Then i tryed to convey this into racing in the last tricky section && got them spot on - whoop!

So i really do need to work on the navigation side & not slip back into old alice techniques of running randomly & hoping. this is never a good thing!

Orienteering 1:02:32 [4] 7.8 km (8:01 / km) +295m 6:45 / km

SOL 5 Coull
Kind of annoyed at myself with this race. My navigation seems to have gone out of the window recently. Started fine in the easier part, a little hesitant (should have read my map on the run more). Lost confidence in myself when i saw some people faffing about && i let them distract me.

Got into it then & was enjoying myself loads in the technical bit...perhaps a bit too much because i ended up just running & forgeting to actually have an AP or any real plan for the leg and so i overshot 13. lost 3mins there. then i was trying to race & catch up time & did exactly the same at 14!!

Basically i need to learn to stop focusing on the running so much. I see other people & race them, & then get distracted, rather than just navigating my way along && letting the running just happen. This has happened to me all year. Every mistake pretty much is made when i try to simply go too fast for my orienteering ability. Must work on this - back to basics is my aim now.

Note

Went for a really long walk today around Arthurs seat & places. Took an o map & did some legs & stuff.
Have decided that I really need to start taking it more seriously now - have had too much drinking & late nights.
From now on I am going to try && limit this a lot more, get over my persistant cold && increase the training load. Also getting some actual sleep may help :)

Running warm up/down 30:00 [2]

Feeling better now - still a bit of a throaty thing, but we are getting there. my days off clearly did some good :)
Jogging from lectures, around meadows, drill things, home & stretches.

Running intervals 14:40 [5] 4.0 km (3:40 / km)
shoes: Trainers

Intervals 4 x 1000m with 90sec recovery.
Felt good during them as usual - intervals seem to be my thing, well much more than long distance anywho!!
But my god my calves hurt so so much! massage time is desperately needed!
