Orienteering warm up/down 15:00 [1]

Probably did about 15mins of jogging around the park a bit & did some drills - the usual

Orienteering race 6:38 [5] *** 1.18 km (5:37 / km)
shoes: Trainers

I don't know how to get maps on here but the courses were really good fun especially the final.

Did Qualification C first - Bit confusing first time in the maze & I messed up no. 9 because it was right next to 8 & I didn't notice it on the map at first. Not too bad though.

Orienteering race 6:14 [5] *** 1.14 km (5:28 / km)
shoes: Trainers

Qualification B - my best one of the 3. Much smoother throught the maze. According to the garmin my best speed was 3.4min/km which is alright :)

Orienteering race 7:35 [5] *** 1.37 km (5:32 / km)
shoes: Trainers

Qualification A - bit of a disaster! Got on the wrong side of the fence at no. 5 so ran all the way back round & lost about 15sec. Was tired too & walked a bit...oops!

Orienteering race 14:40 [5] *** 2.2 km (6:40 / km)
shoes: Trainers

Semi Final B - AAAA
Basically was far too slow!! my stomach gave up on me just after the 2nd river crossing & I had to kind of bend over & battle through - not very nice.
I loved the bit in the maze - I think they should build a giant one & have the whole course in it :) Ultrasprint is only really ultrasprint in this part the rest was like a normal sprint race but with shorter legs & lots more of them! The control in the middle of the river was very cool & good for spectating.
I found the wood part easier this year having been there last time around.

I was dissappointed to come 5th (only top 4 go to final) but relieved because I am way too unfit to have run another course & to make a fool of myself by being ages behind the other women!!

Overall very very fun (one of my fave races of the year) but would have been more so had I been a bit more competitive. Everyone should try this at least once.
[ Although not nearly as hard as the Uppsala ultrasprint in the wood/storm/fancy dress!! where the "giant boulders" were just tiny stones :D ]

Note

Too much stuff going on today - not back home til 8pm so no training. Did walk for a long time around some random nature reserve but a baby frog hopped inside my shoe. I screamed & flung it off! scary stuff :)

Running warm up/down 15:00 [1]

Jogged to haugh & jog/walked back

Running intervals 13:30 [5] 3.0 km (4:30 / km) +40m 4:13 / km
ahr:160 max:195 slept:8.0 shoes: Trainers

Did 4 sets of 750m -
1 set = once round the haugh
Had 3 mins recovery between each one which I walked around a lot & poked my tummy to make the pain go away.
Was pretty muddy up there.
My tummy hurt a lot during warm up but not so bad over the short distance with me pressing it. Kind of odd but effective.
>> My heart rate went to 195 on the last loop =O !!!...... very unfit :)

Note

Had a good look at the jwoc middle maps - looks very fun. Pretty technical at the end, lots of rockyness.

Gym 25:00 [2]

Did an aerobics fitness thing but just the easy one.
Was very easy but felt it pull a few times so didn't push too hard.

Wednesday Jul 8, 2009 #

Gym 40:00 [3]

cross training - hurt a little but not nearly as bad as running & okay to push through. felt very good to be doing something :)

Gym warm up/down 15:00 [0]

good stretching afterwards

Gym 10:00 [1]

3lb hand weights - did some bicep curls, overhead presses, lateral raises & an upward rowing type thing while I watched tv

Note

Started filling out the food/fluid intake form for tass nutrition so they can work out if i'm eating the right types of foods.
Will be quite interesting to see the results.

Note

Tried a run but only managed 20mins. Was very uncomfortable for the first part but then the sharper pain came after about 10mins & I had to stop. Very frustrating.

Note

Tried to go for a run this morning but very painful so I just stopped & walked home after only a few minutes.
Went to the EIS in Sheffield to see the doctor this afternoon - he's not sure if it is muscular cos it should have healed by now if it was. So he's put me on anti-spasmodics (lol) & then I'm going for a pelvic ultrasound next week to check for some medical thing which I can't remember. I hope this gets sorted out sooon :(
He says to just try & train through it cos it won't make it any worse.

Anyways I ate lots of chocolate fudge brownie icecream to make it better & watched jwoc sprint results :)
