Guisborough Fell Race - love love loved it! What a turn around from last year :-) 6 minutes faster this time & actually loved every second! Snow everywhere - and so much fun running over the moor!!! Really pleased with my attitude to racing at the moment & how much I'm enjoying it.

Just a little warm up, was very icy. Had a nice (freezing) coastal walk in the afternoon which loosened everything off.

In quite a lot of pain with all my bruises and cuts from the Chevin this morning :( needed a day to be kind to my body really & not push it when it needed to heal. We went for a nice long walk instead which hurt for a while, but then I started to feel better after a few miles. Think this was a good option.

Chevin Chase!! 6 minutes faster than 2012 :) so cool to start just a few rows behind alistair & jonny. Legs felt super rubbish after yesterday so I never got to the point of being out of breath as I just couldn't make myself go that fast! More of a muddy fun run which was just fine with me :-)

Gotten a badly bruised knee & elbow after this mornings endeavors(!). Needed something to stop them seizing up & this seemed to help ease everything & serve as a warm down/mobility regaining.

Really pleased, easily 60-90secs up on the kind of position I usually finish in.
Paced by Bill today which was brilliant help when I was flagging and wanted to slow down. I think the good position came partly from that but mostly from the easy last 2 days & having fresh legs. Managed to be a team counter too which is getting increasingly hard these days! :) just pipped by Ross on the line though!! Really gave it my all and properly couldn't have eked out even another second. Happy I've finally gotten to a place where I'm able to do this now.

noticed a bit of foot pain the last few days, & wanting to race tvxc tomorrow, so just went to spin today. feels better for the rest already which is great. got quite a few tough races coming up this holiday so staying in one piece is imperative if i'm going to enjoy them!

Note

Had the most stressful last two days working into the night to get things finished. Was just awful. Had zero free time on Monday (and was also having a small meltdown ;-)) and then massively crashed on Tuesday evening and went to sleep as soon as I got in. Cannae wait for a holiday!!!

Too average today. Nothing went wrong as such I just didn't feel awesome, was too cautious with my foot, and made way too many tiny direction errors. Not a great ratio when you miss 9 of the controls!! oops.
Needed more compass discipline as I seemed to get pulled off to the right all of the time & then have to double back across which was a massive waste of time (4-5mins I think). Annoyed but actually just way too happy to be running again to really care from a personal perspective, more just that I wanted to do my best performance for the team which this blates was not! All good fun though :)

New PB by 19 seconds :) happy to be the fastest I've ever been (even if it's not actually that fast compared to everyone else :P) That 20min barrier is looking breakable! Started slowly today as well with a 4:15 first km. Feeling quite strong which is a nice surprise.

S&C 1:00:00 [1]

This session is so much better than the Tuesday one. It's so much more motivating to have somebody fit/strong taking the session. There's also much more focus on using the correct technique and being controlled in our movements rather than rushing through and feeling like you used all the wrong muscles. Lots of body weight exercises too - arms were burning & no weights in sight! fun :-)

Cleared for an easy run - probably wasn't supposed to run quite so far but I was having too much fun to stop! A few twinges & it feels a bit like there's lots of liquid in my foot, but no pain. Iced it for a while now & there doesn't seem to be any adverse effects. Will monitor and see how things are tomorrow & then decide on a plan of action & what to do about the weekend. Cannot take any more spinning haha.

Pilates but with weights this week - ooowww my arms hurt :(
Ankle seems to be improving but more slowly than I expected - i did a 5 min run today & it ached a fair bit afterwards. Nothing now though and no pain at all when actually running so not sure what to do now, I don't know if that's making it worse or not. Boooo desperate to run again, I was so enjoying my training, and too many races getting ever closer.

Helping at the Frith Hill event & it was too nice not to actually do any orienteering. Just walked (on physio orders) but practising terrain visualisation, looking up for vegetation changes & having a good picture of the control circle. Certainly felt beneficial to get some map time in lovely forest. && also just really enjoyed being out on such a frosty day.

Physio - she did some ankle mobilisation & thinks I should be okay to run in less than a week (phew!). Not too bad at all, just need to let all the swelling go first. The rest of me has also improved so the hours of physio exercises are paying off, even if I counteract them with clumsiness :)

Tester jog. No pain but definitely some discomfort there. Didn't feel quite right so no track tonight :-( Spinning was fully booked as well and didn't fancy just cross training with no direction/motivation so just used the evening to sort out neglected life things instead. Annoying that training things seem to be going wrong recently.

Ankle now a fatty. It doesn't actually hurt too much, and I barely felt anything spinning, but it is not very flexible & I cannot stretch it at all.
