Orienteering race 1:13:00 [4] 9.1 km (8:01 / km) +245m 7:04 / km

Tinto Night Event - Carmichael Estate

Thought I was going to be miles behind as I felt very slow (aka walked) up the hills, but actually did much better than I hoped because I didn't have any big errors. Need to work on manning up and running hard all the time, as I only ever seemed to push myself when I was with other people.

1 - Came off my bearing and into the re-entrant too low down, lost about 20secs
2 - Easy
3 - Wanted to go along the power lines but when I got there they were so overgrown with nettles, so I went back to the path, lost 1min
4 - The ride had power lines in it but they weren't mapped so I had a bit of a faff thinking I was somehow in the wrong place, 15secs
5 - Confident
6 - Fell and cut my knee really badly in the willow :( Clumsy as always...
7/8/9/10 - Died up the hills and lost the people who had overtaken me, got them all spot on though. Visualised the contours like the little hill at 9 and the ditch filled re-entrant at 10
11 - Came a bit lower than I intended to and ended up at the little fence, so I just contoured into it. Caught the group back up here so I must have been lucky to find it.
12 - Unnecessary crossing of fences
13 - Fast downhill :)
14 - Got a bit confused by the double deerfence, wasn't very well mapped

So good navigation, not so good fitness! (but after only 5 weeks back training I think that's okay)
