Orienteering 1:00:00 [2]

Lakeside weekend!
Put out controls at Esthwaite Intake with Maria.
Good practice at finding the feature & not the control, & i spiked them all. yays!

Orienteering 45:00 [3]
shoes: Orange Inov8

Not sure how far, but went to great tower & ran an attack points course on a contour only map & then did a control pick afterwards.
Strangely found contours only much easier - better for simplifying. Must remember to use my compass.
Also practiced map memory on these courses, to stop myself pointlessly reading the map when i get tired just so i can rest!
Was fun, even though it was freezing & wet!

Orienteering 10:00 [3]

Went back to Esthwaite in the afternoon but I knew where controls were & had done the long course on start last year, so just went for a bit of a run then checked people in/out & observed controls.

Orienteering race 12:50 [4] *** 1.5 km (8:33 / km) +95m 6:30 / km

Hawkshead night ultrasprint! aaah still love this event!
combines all the things that are my favourites - night events & ultrasprints & mass starts! hehe so fun :)

Was a bit easier than last year with having actual kites & no fog this time round. Also had much better control flow & planned ahead which really helped. Annoyed I missed the last control though - grrr, would have won!
Very pleased i managed to run my own race though, identified that other people are where I go wrong, so this is perfect practice.
