Orienteering warm up/down 20:00 [2]

Orienteering race 40:21 [5] *** 6.0 km (6:44 / km) +140m 6:01 / km
spiked:9/14c shoes: Orange Inov8

JHI relays - Team 117 (florence, becky & me) 2nd =)

Very pleased & kind of disappointed with this run at the same time.

Went off right in the lead pack with all the other top teams cos all our 14's came back together. Managed to ignore everyone else & avoid following & making mistakes which a few people did I think - lost some time at no. 2 (was just below the re-entrant & had to double back to it). Felt extremely tired, had to work very hard to keep up the pace through the earlier part of the course.
Then I managed to get out on my own, which probably wasn't a good thing. I think I slowed up & was far too cautious at this point - wasn't really sure what was happeneing cos we had all been running in a long line & suddenly there was nobody around. Should have just forgot about it but it made me a bit uneasy thinking had i missed a control or taken a bad route & gotten behind.

Anyway I was actually first through the spectator control but by this point I could hardly put one foot in front of the other I was so tired! was very slow to no. 12 & then I couldn't even read the map. My vision was all blurry (lack of oxygen!) & i couldn't make out what feature I was going to. Ended up drifting off line pretty bad & being overtaken with about 450m to go! No way could I have run that fast at the end though, I was done in.
Tried my hardest, so I know I should be very pleased in myself that I ran so hard & stayed away so long from such better runners than me, but can't help feeling a bit gutted.
Finished 5secs behind :(

On a huowge positive - England thrashed Scotland =D haha
Bring on the JIRCs - Yorkshire!!! :)
