running race (Lochiel parkrun) 26:16 [4] 5.0 km (5:15 / km)
shoes: Asics Kayano 27

Woke up far too early, which pleased the dog but not myself, and then I remembered that the others had said they were going to parkrun at Lochiel Park, so I decided to go along. 2.5km outbound then back again along the River Torrens Linear Park path, and for some reason I thought the net uphill would be greater in the first half since it was upstream and therefore a negative split should be easy on the return leg...hahaha.
Actual splits:
5:11 - this included actually getting across the start line which took a few sec
5:16
5:32
5:17
5:00
Turnaround was at 13:13 and even though I had secretly hoped to get under 26 min, I knew I'd not be able to go 30 sec faster on the way back, because that nice hill we'd just coasted down was in my immediate future - but I did manage 10 sec faster, so that's not nothing, and at least I paced myself ok even though I am very slow these days. Nice to see a whole bunch of Arrows there including Emily & Sarah :)

riding (Belair) 30:00 [3]

Dunno where the afternoon went - on orienteering emails mostly - but I had intended to go blackberrying in Belair and finally got up there after dinner. Rode directly to the far end of the valley then worked my way back past a few disappointing patches, although I did eventually fill a lunchbox before it got dark.

swimming 33:00 [3] 1.0 km (33:00 / km)

Didn't have time to wash my hair afterwards and therefore suffered through a fairly average chlorine headache all day.

orienteering race (Semaphore Park SSS) 21:23 [4] 2.7 km (7:55 / km)
shoes: Asics Kayano 27

Went out after helping on the start as usual, so there were not many other people around, but I did twice see Zara on the crossovers and I know she runs faster than me, so I put a real effort into looking ahead for route choices that would save even a couple of seconds, and it paid off, because I somehow ended up 1 sec faster than her across the course and therefore Bridget gave us both chocolate, for having tied in women's vets over the Snap Sprint series, having won 2 races each or so she thought. It turns out that Keren was nearly a minute faster than either of us though, but she hadn't run all 4 races.

running (Belair) 59:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Nimbus 22

After a frustrating day (but at least I'm not the one trying to figure out the logistics of administering a vaccine which needs to be stored at -70 degrees and is only stable for half an hour after reconstitution) knees didn't want to cooperate at all to start with and I lagged ridiculously behind Fern & Zara but by the time we got to the redwoods after lots of stretching stops I suggested going up & over the hill into the next valley to see whether there are still enough blackberries to be worth picking on the weekend (sadly, not really, but I have just been too busy lately to get out there sooner).

running 40:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Kayano 27

Over to Hawthorn Oval, 6 x runthroughs on the grass, home again. New shoes do feel a bit bouncier but I still had to make a real effort to lift my feet.

running (Shepherds Hill) 40:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Nimbus 22

Empty-legged plod on a warm evening before going home to watch the Alice Springs episode of The Amazing Race (previous 2 episodes were filmed in Darwin).

running (Bridgewater) 1:21:48 [3]
shoes: Asics Nimbus 22

Direct route to Mylor with Zara/Roo, Steve/Lexi, Fern, then back via the Bandicoot trail, which is lovely but always seems quite tough. I'd warned the others before starting that my legs might fall off at some point, which never quite happened, but they had to wait for me at the top of every hill.

Afterwards, spent a couple of hours at home tidying up control descriptions etc then headed out to Roseworthy again to meet controller/organiser there to agree on arena layout and cross-check all sites, and got home at 6pm.
