orienteering (Pyrmont Point) 1:03:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Nimbus 21

Been meaning to do this for a while - found online a map from Christmas 5-Days a few years ago and decided to get all 30 controls from the 45-min score, because how long can it take on a 1:4 000 A4 map? Quite a while, as it turns out, because some of the controls were at the far end of wharves and others at the top of cliffs or bottom of railway escalators, and to minimise stair climbs I did an outer loop and an inner loop, but without control descriptions I didn't always know exactly where the control was meant to be, so made it up a bit as I went along. Very scenic and good fun despite the rain - although I now understand why people at Sydney Summer Series events like to plan their course in advance!

Afterwards, headed back to the airport to pick up G so we could go out to Penrith for the weekend. And then the nursing home didn't even ask to see proof of our flu vaccinations! Still took a while to sign in though...

Fairyland loop on the Lane Cove River with Tracy & Paul from their place, at gossiping pace :)

orienteering (Waite) 24:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Nimbus 21

Sprint course in 6 sections so after every 3 controls we picked up a new piece of map and had to orient it with no north lines etc, to make quick decisions. Which was fun, and the rose garden's particularly beautiful at this time of October. Also saw a family of 10 ducklings (plus parents).

running (Waite) 32:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Nimbus 21

Along the track up behind Waite, and back through the suburbs checking out a few mansions although I was a bit underwhelmed by some of the more modern ones.

running hills (Morialta) 48:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Nimbus 21

Nice evening for it and a big group but after admiring the everlasting daisies on the Deep View ascent I only went as far around as the top of First Falls - still flowing nicely - because of needing to get to OSA council meeting (which seemed to drag on a bit).

running (Belair) 1:20:00 [3] 11.3 km (7:05 / km)
shoes: Asics Nimbus 21

Not feeling great this morning (a bit dehydrated from last night and also got home at 11pm) but had arranged to meet Fern for a run and then to check out the pop-up GoatShed cafe where EscapeGoat MTB adventures have set up in the old golfing pro gear shop by the abandoned golf course. We headed up past the lake then the waterfalls (although we didn't check them out) and came back down over Saddle Hill from the top of the park, which was a really nice run even if I did struggle on hills - and we saw some good patches of spider orchids.

Didn't do much for the rest of the day though apart from going with G to visit the wetlands/bushland behind Urrbrae, which were holding an open afternoon. As he said: the reason for stickybeaking is that we've always wanted to know what's behind the locked gates. As I said: now we just need to find a way to smuggle some of his superfluous native trees in there...he didn't consider this to be necessary, but I'm currently looking for ways to get one up on him because of the stick! There's a household note which I often leave on the table for him on a Sunday morning; it reads "DOG HAS BEEN WALKED AND FED" then in smaller print "do not throw out - stick on fridge" so the other day I found myself wondering why on earth there was a twig gaffer-taped to the fridge door...
