Note
(sick)

Feeling more terrible than usual for this time of month and spent basically all the time not at work in bed today - but I did manage to arrange for a coffee van to be in attendance at state champs!

orienteering race (Club Relays Wirra Wirra) 58:16 [3] 5.5 km (10:36 / km)
shoes: Inov8 Oroc spikes

G & I left home at 6:15 am with the Wallaringa trailer and were well aware that it always rains at Wirra Wirra, but the drizzle didn't fully set in until the tents and socially-distanced graveyard & changeover area (Simon's design) were all in place and we were putting the finishing touches to the reams of bunting marking the finish chute up from the scenic redgum creek crossing.

I was running 2nd/4th in a team with Lexie and due to the strength of competition in the open women's field we figured we'd probably end up 4th or 5th, but there was the faintest chance of a placing, so I tried quite hard on my first run even though my hamstrings were killing me, but all I really achieved was a couple of dumb mistakes, so I took the next run at a more relaxed pace but still veered off bearing on occasion and by the end my legs were still really hammered.

2.8km/28:40
2.7km/29:36

The event was a great success though, thanks to all the work by Bridget & Simon and with plenty of assistance from Arrows & associates. When we finally got home nearly 10 hours after departing, I decided to ignore all the wet tents in the trailer and eat chocolate instead!

orienteering (Hazelwood Park) 28:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Nimbus 21

Only 5 of us turned up for Evalin's training, which turned out to be 3 short courses around the park, and had the potential for wet feet on First Creek crossings but that didn't matter because the morning already seemed rather warm (and not just because I was still feeling a bit wrecked/dehydrated). Afterwards convinced G to come with me out to Narrinyeri to finalise arena/parking following some new information from the rangers this week, and it was definitely warm & dry out there. Glad that next weekend won't be 25+ up north of Orroroo!

running (Belair night) 52:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Nimbus 21

Redwoods return, initially with quite a big group although there was some attrition beyond Long Gully. Had been exhausted by end of day after a busy week and hosting Arrows' relay-map-bagging last night then taking my dad to his 103-year-old aunt's funeral this morning, so it was good to get some fresh air and conversation.

running (Bellevue Heights) 56:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Kayano 24

Tired today, but a sunset singletracks run was nice. Surprised to see MTB cyclists and runners - spring must be coming.

running tempo (North Adelaide) 47:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Nimbus 21

After warmup, the plan was to do 6 min, 5 min, 4 min, 3 min, 2 min along the river with 1 min recovery/regroup between each, but my hamstring was a bit uncertain and needed stretching stops so after the 4 min I went back to find Lucy who was lagging, and I convinced her to do 2 min then 1 min, and we were so proud of the extra 1 min that we totally forgot we hadn't done the 3 min - oops!
