Saturday May 5 #

9 AM

running intervals (Snake Pit) 15:30 [5]
shoes: Asics 2000-4

Quite happy with the times although I'm perfectly certain that these are due to the sand being damp after the past couple of days' rain and nothing to do with my actual fitness:
3:02
3:04
3:06
3:06
3:08
Tried to keep recoveries under 90 sec but got very breathless.

running 54:30 [3]
shoes: Asics 2000-4

Warmup to/from North Haven breakwater which involved at least 5 min of bouncing on seaweed each way, recoveries, and warmdown to/from Largs Pier. Didn't feel my knee until right towards the end. Lovely to be beside the seaside, although this was hardly Esperance.
4 PM

riding (Belair) 1:05:00 [3]

Perfect afternoon to be out and about in the park (which has greened up so much since the first rain 3 weeks ago) but I failed to identify a preferred start/finish location for the July 8 event, which I'm setting despite the fact that I won't be in the country at that time.

Friday May 4 #

7 AM

swimming 35:00 [3] 1.0 km (35:00 / km)

Because my knees wouldn't kick properly, this was rather like fighting my way through treacle. The dog looked at me in horror when I went out without feeding him yet (oh, the caninity) but I treated him to my best General MacArthur impression.

Thursday May 3 #

7 PM

running (Belair night) 43:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Kayano 23

Missed night-O training on the abandoned golf course yesterday in order to give my legs a rest but knees were still rather unhappy tonight so it's a good thing this was a fairly casual run with Z&C. National Parks have put actual pedestrian stiles in the fence around the golf course, so the sense of doing something vaguely illicit by traversing it has now been removed.

Wednesday May 2 #

7 AM

swimming 33:00 [3] 1.0 km (33:00 / km)

Felt interminable but was actually not too inefficient by my standards.

Tuesday May 1 #

6 PM

running 40:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Kayano 23

Montefiore Hill x 5, feeling rather unco, plus running to/from with the group. Sarah gunned it on the first one :) and Liv came hooning past me on a regular basis. I have only 7 weeks in which to get fit...

Monday Apr 30 #

5 PM

running 44:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Kayano 22

First 15 min was uphill through the uni and "Flinders Pass", by which time the sun had set, so I stuck to roads on the way back down because legs & brain were tired.

Sunday Apr 29 #

10 AM

orienteering race (Garvey Park NavDash) 25:11 [3] 2.9 km (8:41 / km)
shoes: Asics 2000-4

This interesting bit of park-and-bushland along the Swan River was an easy walk from our caravan park and I even spotted a couple of controls along the way! Probably should have gone for a jog to warm up though because I was pretty stiff & sore and couldn't get much above a plod :(

orienteering race (Garvey Park NavDash) 19:39 [3] 2.0 km (9:50 / km)
shoes: Asics 2000-4

Couldn't resist doing another course since it was at no extra cost, and this gave me the opportunity to test direct routes when previously I had detoured around the scrubby bits. Getting warm in the sun since the breeze from the river (which had previously blown away all the burn-off smoke from yesterday) had died down, and my knees were rather painful but at least this shorter course covered all the interesting bits of the wetlands without any distance-adding transport legs. And no, I didn't take the 'shortcut' between any pair of peninsulae...
