Note

Feeling a bit better today but had to work in the morning and in the afternoon seized the opportunity to drive/walk with G around all the twilight rogaine control sites which I/we hadn't yet been to. There are some lovely little parks and wetlands along Christies and other Creeks; I think people will really enjoy this event, especially if they make it all the way to the coastline...

orienteering race (Underdale SSS) 27:26 [3] 3.5 km (7:50 / km)
shoes: Asics Kayano 23

Fairly straightforward course although with some reasonable left-or-right choices around the townhouse blocks which once-upon-a-time used to be a uni campus (I showed the map to G and he pointed out all the houses he had delivered) and Torrens Linear Park. Still a bit under the weather so I just jogged around and was glad of not having to focus too hard because the work phone kept ringing :(

running (Belair) 52:00 [3]
shoes: Asics 2000-4

Definitely coughy & sniffly now, so feeling pretty flat, but this was a pleasantly conversational jog to the redwoods & return with Zara/Callum in the drizzle.

running 39:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Kayano 23

Staggered across to Mitcham (why are they cutting down the trees alongside the creek, in the park?) and return; would have liked to go back to bed afterwards but work beckoned. Rather apprehensive about how this next week's being on call is going to go...

Note
(rest day)

Didn't want to derail the February Project but I've got nothing today - being 2 people at work will do that to you. Also not sure that I am quite well? Dunno where this dry cough has come from :(

running (Shepherds Hill) 34:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Kayano 23

Thought I'd just run along the valley but at the far end got lured uphill by a singletrack which turned out to deadend at the trainline tunnel - hindsight* tells me that I should have remembered this from a previous occasion when I likewise had to scramble all the way up to the ridgeline - and I found a 'new' track on my way back down the Gloucester Ave spur.

*'Hindsight' also being the title of Cal Wilson's Fringe comedy show which we went to see on Sat night at the Garden Of Unearthly Delights. First time I've been in there, and the after-dark lights display on the buildings along North Tce was pretty spectacular too.

running race (O'Halloran Hill trail run) 1:21:39 [3] 13.5 km (6:03 / km)
shoes: Asics 2000-4

I guess I can't really complain about paying for trail runs in SA when I haven't actually done so, therefore I gave the 3rd in the Yumigo summer series a go this morning, figuring that at least it's in a park where I don't usually run (although last year's twilight rogaine did pass through there). Starting up the top of the hill on Majors Rd meant that any descents resulted in collateral elevation gain, which we did 4 times, and there were some fabulous views out over the city and ocean on the way down the long spur. Was a bit surprised at just how many people went past me on the uphills - my legs didn't seem to want to lift at all but I kept plodding because my goal for this run was simply to have a solid pace. As a bonus, I re-caught a few people on the downhill runs :)

Waited around to watch Bridget finishing the long course in a good time - and then I had to head home because of friends coming for brunch at 11.
