riding 1:20:00 [3]

Pretty wrecked after a long day chairing the L3 controllers' workshop (with assistance from Robin, Adrian, Simon, but I was still updating my own presentations after midnight) so was inclined to crash in a heap but after some chocolate, decided to ride to the beach: via old tramline & Sturt drain/Patawalonga estuary to get to the coast at West Beach, south to and through Glenelg into a blustery headwind as the golden sun was setting, turned inland about 5 seconds after it sank below the ocean, and headed directly home because I was hungry, getting there before it was fully dark. Early night tonight!

swimming 34:00 [3] 1.0 km (34:00 / km)

The outside air was already warmer than the pool water.
7 PM

orienteering race (Mawson Lakes SSS) 18:30 [4] 3.0 km (6:10 / km)
shoes: Asics Kayano 23

We haven't run at UniSA Mawson Lakes since 2014 I think, and it was pretty hot last time too. Thankfully the map's totally flat and this was actual running distance. It was rather a runner's course though, with not a vast amount of route choice, and by the time I started there was nobody around for me to chase, so I had to keep myself honest in terms of effort :)

running 36:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Kayano 23

Figured I'd go & see whether the newly-reopened bikepath alongside the tramline overpass of South Rd could work for 'hill' intervals. It actually has the potential, but not for me tonight.

running 37:25 [3]
shoes: Asics Kayano 23

Over to Mitcham & back, feeling pretty buggered, although the last 10 min could possibly have been called tempo.

running (Morialta) 1:04:30 [3]
shoes: Asics 2000-4

Figured I would melt if I did intervals so just went up to Deep View, 3rd Falls, Norton Summit Rd then straight down from Pretty Corner but that turned out to be rough & slow and I had to avoid stepping on lots of lizards, especially the iridescently bluegreenyellow dragons. Thirsty by the end but it was worth it to see the white-faced grey heron take flight above the only-just-trickling 3rd falls. Also, at the bottom the rainbow lorikeets were enjoying their natural bird bath where water seeps out of the hillside into a hollow in the rock.

orienteering (Wayville sprint) 14:40 [2]
shoes: Asics Kayano 23

Short sweaty stagger around the office buildings on Greenhill Rd and their underground car parks before we listened to Manu telling us all about orienteering in Spain and showing us really really cool maps (I want to go there immediately!).

riding 30:00 [3]

It turns out that for me to cycle from home to the meeting rooms @Rose Tce takes less than 15 min...return trip in the dark was a bit slower though.

running (Bridgewater) 1:09:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Kayano 23

Bowling Green Lane loop with a reasonably tight-knit group (i.e. no one was in a hurry) and a rare Fern. As usual I lagged behind on the hills but seemed to find cruise control on the long descent of Gully Rd, which was nice.
