Twilight jog after doing A Norful Lot of grocery shopping in advance of the next 4 days (not to be spent at work, woot). Knee & hamstring took it in turns to complain, so there were lots of stretching stops, sometimes coincidentally in front of shiny Christmas lights. Does anyone know where you can get a set of LED penguins...?
Before a full but fun day of Eleanoring and making the acquaintance of baby Heidi, who seems fairly placid and has a beautiful smile. Nice to see S&L too :)
Plod up the valley, along the trainline, back down the ridge on a warm evening. Legs were empty because Qantas doesn't give you proper dinner on late-night flights, only cheese & crackers (G generously donated his to me). Birds were vocally happy at first then they quietened down - in anticipation of rain?
After an unpleasant night in the dodgy motel where the airconditioner kept turning itself off every hour and I kept waking up when the atmosphere got so hot that I had to turn it back on, left G to the present-wrapping and headed out along the Nepean river for a bridge to bridge loop then down past the weir to the wetlands where I've never been before - decent birdlife and a sighting of the rare Australian Floating Mattress.
Once all the family stuff was over, we still had enough time to head to Cronulla and catch the little old 1939 ferry to/from Bundeena, which I've always wanted to do. Found a gelateria where the chilli chocolate ice cream was so hot that I had tears in my eyes and the Iced VoVo flavour was just amazing :)
