running (hunting the purple) 47:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Kayano 23

Across to Mitcham in search of jacarandas, which weren't hard to find - I just had to hold my head high looking for a glimpse of purple and often whole streets manifested, carpeted with blossoms which were falling like confetti. Legs hammered from AOKTM and brain hammered from the week @work, but felt better by the end.

orienteering race (Glenelg SS) 35:50 [3]
shoes: Asics Kayano 23

Scatter around Glenelg - Adrian has extended Stefano's foreshore sprint map. For all 20 controls it took me a while to decide upon a route, and even after the 15th I was still making up my mind about the order of the rest, so it was well set by Manu. I managed not to get run over crossing Jetty Rd, and had to stop for traffic elsewhere; don't really think that it's ideal for orienteers to be dashing across a busy thoroughfare. Also managed to get home and cleaned/dressed up and out again to be at work Christmas drinks by 8pm.

running (Belair) 49:00 [3]
shoes: Asics 2000-4

Humid redwoods run with Zara/Callum & Angus, hearing about the winning team's planning strategy and route choice from the minigaine. By the end I was really thirsty, possibly because I seem to have solved the not-having-time-to-pee problem by not having time to drink either (I NEVER don't have time to eat). Anyway, the ward seems to be settling down a bit this end of the week - one of the nurses did say kindly to me "you've had rather a baptism of fire".

orienteering 40:00 [2]
shoes: Asics 2000-4

Fun sprint/bearings training around Nth Adl golf course; I particularly enjoyed the 'warmup' map which was missing most of the features apart from OOB greens & sand traps. Took it pretty easy because of the ankle I rolled a couple of Sundays ago and also I'm generally rather buggered, plus my knees always hurt of course. This was meant to be night orienteering but it wasn't really dark enough to need a torch until right at the end, by which time the bats were flying overhead!

running 31:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Kayano 23

Kind of weird to come outside after 10 hours inside a building with airconditioning and no natural light, and realise that it was 35 degrees today.

running (Shepherds Hill) 30:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Kayano 23

Painful-kneed jog along the valley after an exhaustingly messy first full day of my permanent commitment to the oncology ward (and yes, there were times when I thought perhaps I should be 'committed' myself...I wonder how long it will take me to go mad in this chaotic place?).

running (Bridgewater) 1:21:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Kayano 22

We sojourned today towards/through Aldgate and then across to Woorabinda reserve, lap of the lake, up into Stirling, up to Old Mt Barker Rd, then all the way back down it to Bridgewater, with the breeze mostly neutralising the sun. Something seemed to have neutralised my legs, too - even compared to their usual slowness I was really plodding. But the company made it ok.
