running 49:00 [3]
shoes: Asics GT-2000

It was absolutely frigid at 8am when I met AK and PC at Woodhouse to crunch through the frost discussing schools' champs assembly area layout. A bit better by the time I set out through Mt George, although my toes took a while to regain sensation. By the time I was coming back along Rangeview Drive it had turned into a glorious winter's day. Rather sad that I won't be rogaining at Mt Crawford tomorrow but probably it's for the best since I can only just declare this evil cold defunct.

After the excellent coffee & prune-and-custard slice which I had promised myself from the Organic Market café, I decided to take a leaf out of Tyson's book and go see the waterfalls in Belair. Parked above the upper waterfall and ran down the very washed out singletrack alongside the road to the trainline, then down to Echo Tunnel, up past the trickling Lower & Upper falls, inhaling the fragrance of golden wattle.

Later on in the day I kidnapped my parents and made them walk with me from the beach up to the lighthouse at Marino, then we had dinner at the café at Marino Rocks, watching the sunset.

Feeling enough on top of schools' champs stuff that I figured I had time for a run. Turned out I didn't really have the energy, though...

Funny moment when some teenaged boys came past quoting the Pauline Pantsdown Pauline Hanson spoof "I don't like it" at each other and I realised they wouldn't have been born when that was first produced!

Note

Really, now a coldsore...? Should have stayed on holidays for another week. Organisational logistics for the schools' champs are a little overwhelming and at work I have to take on the surgical ward again :(
Also have realised that I won't be going to any orienteering races between now and the nationals.

running (North Adelaide) 43:00 [3]

Nth Adl loop with the juniors, and a number of 30-second surges, and not too much coughing & spluttering. Will see if I can get a *bit* faster between now and the Aust champs.

(sick)

Really, it's possible to pull a muscle between ribs while coughing?
Also, really a year ago already since the WMOC final in Gothenburg and the charter flight to Aberdeen to watch WOC...I want to go orienteering in Sweden again!

Around the suburbs, testing out the lungs, after flying home with parents which took up most of the day (was weird that the flight Yulara-Alice boarded and took off half an hour early; I guess the majority of its passengers came as one busload from the resort). Don't know that I've ever spent a week feeling quite so under the weather but at least that didn't ruin my enjoyment of the holiday too much, and parents were great company. I hope for Geoff's sake that I haven't picked up too many of their mannerisms :) Do feel bad for Zara that I wasn't better value on the rogaine, although ours could certainly have been a much worse result...
