running 1:20:30 [3]
shoes: Asics GT-2000

Spent the day doing household duties on what seems to have lately become the one weekend in 4 when I am neither away nor have work commitments. The floor is sparkly clean now and my rarely-used stomach muscles complaining a little about sweeping, scrubbing and mopping. Took them and the rest of me across through Mitcham to Brownhill Creek and got to the far end of the caravan park in what I think was an ok time but have no recollection of the times or routes I used to take for this run when I lived literally (not figuratively) across the road from here in 2000-01. Knee twinged a bit on the way back which I hope was only due to poor foot placement as it got darker.

swimming 36:00 [3] 1.0 km (36:00 / km)

Don't know how I managed to be late for work despite getting up at 6am, when the only other thing I did was to walk the dog. And stretch a bit (feeling really stiff for no good reason after being fine earlier in the week). And have a head-on collision with someone coming the other way in my lane which was totally my fault because I was trying to overtake despite being the slowest swimmer in the world.

orienteering (Flinders Uni SSS) 30:07 [3] 2.9 km (10:23 / km)
shoes: Asics Kayano 21

Hell of a day at work - my current crop of doctors couldn't organise their way into their own underpants, much less organise discharge prescriptions for about a dozen patients simultaneously - and while I was tempted to just go home I'd promised to help out at O, and I actually managed to make it there in time before the starts. Surprisingly, we ran out of short course maps this week! There were enough long maps left and I wanted to see what Simon had done with the reconfigured plaza so I did go for a run, although I felt like absolute crap to start with (plus my hip had been really bad all day) and had to walk up all of the stairs & catch my breath at the top. Made a few bad route choices but by the end started to feel ok - I guess that was after the 20-minute 'warmup' I hadn't had beforehand.

Was running late for Belair anyway then figured out I had the wrong shoes (O shoes, 'cos still in car from yesterday) so went back inside to finish off stuff at work instead and when I got home plodded around the suburbs for a bit - South Road, tramline to Goodwood Rd, back through Clarence Gardens feeling pretty buggered. On the bright side, although I parked in a 2 hour zone in my haste to get to an 8am meeting, then totally forgot to shift my car later, there don't seem to have been any parking inspectors passing by in the next 11 hours.

Note

Had grand plans for an evening terrain run but by the time I finished work I was starving (figuratively not literally) and after dinner I was ready for bed.

running hills (Morialta) 55:45 [3]
shoes: Asics GT-2000

Couldn't work out whether I was tired or hungry tonight so I asked Bridget and she said "if you fall asleep while eating your dinner, you're tired". Felt very empty going up the hill in the sun to Deep View, and a bit better after scavenging some blackberries with Angus at 3rd Falls. Couldn't believe how much salt I sweated out tonight; I generally think of this as a sign of unfit-ness but suspect that by the time I'm properly fit again we'll be into un-sweaty weather. Anyway, the dog appreciated the salt lick when I got home!

running 46:30 [3]

Finally dragged myself out for a run after the dog had convinced me to perambulate with him after dinner. Knees started out a bit stiff but after a while I tried running alternate blocks properly faster and did about 9 of these, ranging from 150 to 400m. Then I was stuffed.

running long 1:31:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Kayano 21

We ran early from Bridgie because of the OSA strategic planning workshop (not quite sure what it achieved but the OR&S facilitator seemed happy with the outcomes) at 10am, and it was still rather misty/foggy - I should know the difference, right? Is it to do with droplet size or density? - in the hills which made it quite pleasant for doing the Ambulance-Tanahmerah-White Gum Flat loop and coming back down Worden Rd into Mt George. Largish group too: B&S, Zara/Callum, Steve, Andrew M, AK, Liv, Nic, Angus - and even though I was close to the back of the pack as usual we didn't seem as strung out as on other occasions. People powered past me going up hills but I am sort of ok on the descents.
