riding (Brownhill Creek) 1:05:00 [3] 19.0 km (3:25 / km)

Work banquet took a while (but was fun) and I didn't get home until after 11 last night so postponed the long run concept for a quad-building ride instead. Now heading off with Geoff to see Paul Kelly, Kasey Chambers & others performing at A Day On The Green at a winery in the Barossa.
11 AM

Note

Attack of the Killer Masseuse
Rather hammered afterwards.

orienteering race (Panorama SS) 37:30 [4]
shoes: Asics Kayano 19

Had to fit this in before work 'Christmas' dinner which was 7pm at a Vietnamese restaurant at the city, so ran as hard as I could although my arches were really unhappy in new shoes (need to beware of impending plantar fasciitis) and I suspect I still got done by the George twins as usual. Left out the 5 southernmost/steepest controls and think I spent a grand total of 47 minutes actually at the event (even more of a record than Zara's).

running (Belair) 1:16:00 [3]
shoes: Asics GT-2000

Nice evening so we headed up past the lake, across the train line*, up the big hill and past both waterfalls, then down a track which started off as not much and ended up as even less in a blackberry thicket - which conveniently had a singletrail cut into it - just above the abandoned Long Gully station. We could hear in the rails that a train was coming but everyone had popped out of the thicket and crossed the line well before it came anywhere near. Feeling a bit stronger today although legs got fatigued pretty quickly - combination of old shoes & hard ground I guess.

*line to Melbourne, that is. Technically Adelaide has a grand total of 4 metropolitan lines; one of them was even both extended and electrified last year, woohoo!

A real struggle around Mitcham tonight. Lots of stops for stretching and even to sit down & catch my breath.

Didn't think I could face hills (although I hadn't meant to stand Bridget up) and so went for a plod around the suburbs after dinner - up Winston to tram line*, along tram line* to Marion Rd, back parallel to Cross Rd. Saw some suburbs I don't normally see and a street where there seems to be a fair bit of one-upmanship between houses regarding their Christmas lights.

*for all those of you who live in other cities: Adelaide only has one tram route so it's The Tram Line, not A Tram Line (as per rogaine control descriptions).

Note

Still feeling a bit under the weather (G is more so, but for a different reason and I'm not quite sure what it is) and had the least productive day at work I can recall, where all I wanted to do was just lie down and have a nap. Which I ended up doing on the floor at house A before driving home to house B, so it was an early night. So much for my fledgling goal to do a minimum of 30 minutes' exercise each day!

Staggered up Black Mountain with Blair before OA conference. This destination was my request but I nearly didn't make it to the top - must have forgotten to pack my hill legs. (Am going to try harder this month to get away from work on time, avoid my computer, and do some core stuff.) Anyway, 'twas a lovely morning to be out - by which I mean a *little* cooler than Adelaide would have been.
