running (Shepherds Hill) 58:53 [3]
shoes: Asics Kayano 19

Hmmm...I waited until it wasn't too hot (and my tummy finally felt ok again after lunch) so I thought this was going to be a good pace, but it turned out I was completely stuffed. Pity, because it was a nice evening to be in the park.

orienteering race (Adelaide Uni Sprint) 28:39 [4] 2.7 km (10:37 / km)
shoes: Asics GT-2000

Went for a trot after the start quietened down; it was still pretty warm out. Slowly breaking in the new shoes but I think they would cause a blister on long runs. Handled the stairs okay for once.

I always like running around Adelaide Uni, and I thought I knew many of the traps from having set previously, but still took the wrong route choice at least 3 times too many, so Simon got me there. He was kinder on the competitors than I was last year!

swimming 35:00 [3] 1.0 km (35:00 / km)

The water was a bit warm today. Or maybe I just kept swimming over the hotspots.

running (Belair) 57:00 [3]
shoes: Asics GT-2000

To Long Gully then up the steps and back via Echo Tunnel with B&S, Zara/Callum and the junior boys. I took a while to warm up but by the end decided there was no harm in trotting across the golf course with Z. Now that I look at next week's forecast I really wish I'd taken the opportunity to run yesterday.

running hills (Morialta) 50:57 [3]
shoes: Asics GT-2000

Up to Pretty Corner, which was a real struggle because my calves were rather tight, although I did just manage to get there before Liv going the long way round on the bike. Into 3rd falls and down at a fairly cruisy pace chatting to Will.

D'you think I manifest stress as muscle tension? It wasn't exactly an enjoyable Repat staff forum with the SALHN CEO today where the hall was packed and the mood sombre with pockets of belligerence. I can't believe the health minister didn't come himself and front up to us...at least we'd most of us had a chance to read the report by then because the CEO went and spoke @FMC first. (She did however remind us of the SA Health social media policy.) So in a couple of years' time all that will be retained at Repat are the heritage listed sites, i.e. the chapel and the original homestead. I draw the conclusion that the rest of the 40 acres will be sold for housing. Oh, and they are closing Hampstead rehab too; that's been on the cards for a while as it's also prime real estate.

running (Belair triangle) 1:09:25 [3]
shoes: Asics GT-2000

To my surprise, it was drizzling when I headed out the door, although the hills were still visible. 36 min to the top; although slow it was steady. So coming down was 33 something and my knee/groin didn't complain. Stiffened up a bit afterwards though. Probably I need to make this a weekly run between now and June (we'll see how long that idea lasts).

The mood of apprehension around the hospital was palpable today. I haven't encountered one person who doesn't firmly believe that tomorrow's announcement from the SA health minister will involve future closure of the Repat. Of course, we could all be wrong and they're only going to sell off half of it. But the media at the front gate say otherwise :(

Note

Left Jamestown about 7:30am and cleaned up a roo about 8km east of town. First time I've ever done that and it came out of nowhere on a bend with the sun in my eyes. Actually, it came out of a clump of trees (farmland all around) and the first I knew of it was the almighty thump, although Simon said he caught a glimpse of its shadow. Right hand front corner rather dented and pushed a bit sideways, although perfectly driveable until after dark when I found out that my headlights are now pointing in weird directions. Roo presumably dead although to my shame I didn't go back and check, or at least drag it off the road, because I was too startled. Kind of glad that I didn't actually see it coming because if I had, I might have swerved instinctively even though I know that the first rule of driving is that you must never swerve for a roo because whatever else you hit might be worse.

Anyway, it was cold enough for jackets when we got to Bri Glen and we finished off the last controls on the south side of Wonna Creek (that's a fun section; north end of Merridee) before Peter K (day organiser) met us and we gave him a guided tour of the arena spectacular and the start layout. After lunch in Burra at a newish little café which I can recommend for Easter weekend, got home in time to begin emptying the kitchen cupboards and carting the contents across to Avenue Rd. Geoff has already taken all the books (and bookshelves) and is dropping hints that I'm dragging my heels a bit...
