running 57:00 [3]
shoes: Asics GT-2000

From Tracy's at Lane Cove West along the Lane Cove river (Great North Walk, pretty rough in spots especially around the sandstone underhangs) to DeBurghs bridge then up the hill to the hotel at North Ryde (actually in Macquarie Park business park, but there's a good view from the 8th floor and a decent steakhouse next door - so G&I called it our anniversary dinner because on Wed I'll be at an Easter meeting). Mostly scenic, fairly sweaty, and with an abundance of water dragons that I had to try hard not to step on.

swimming 35:00 [3] 1.0 km (35:00 / km)

Felt better at the end than I did at the beginning.

orienteering (Lochiel Park) 30:00 [3]
shoes: Asics GT-2000

Summer Series was on the sprint map at Lochiel Park. I was surprised that the 1: 5000 map lent itself to a full-size scatter but in fact this was very well set by Aiden and I probably didn't choose the optimal route - being lazy I just decided to avoid crossing the river and so left out the 5 on the far side. I also made a few mistakes related to scale or to not having a compass (!) but enjoyed myself although legs were painfully stiff through hip flexors, ITB and knees. Not really sure why I have been so tense/tight lately but a week on call probably didn't help (even though the phone was pretty quiet).

Nice to have a picnic with George and Julie - back from Madagascar - afterwards.

running (Belair) 1:12:00 [3]
shoes: Asics GT-2000

With Zara and no dogs through Echo Tunnel, up past the waterfalls to the top of the park then down the singletrack to the redwoods and back along the creek. Lovely (if sweaty) evening and company but I really struggled on the hills and my legs were completely fatigued.

running 40:00 [3]
shoes: Asics GT-2000

Too nice an evening not to run, but my knees didn't agree. Despite new shoes, legs felt like lead. Definitely not running fast enough to burn fat lately.

running 48:30 [3]
shoes: Asics GT-2000

Struggle up through Panorama to Sleeps Hill quarries and back down across the trainline. It was nice out after a warm day (and good to be by myself after a fairly social weekend) but my legs were barely moving. Groin didn't hurt, though hips & ITB were very tight.

running 1:27:49 [3]
shoes: Asics GT-2000

Struggle up through Shepherds Hill, Eden Hills, Bellevue Heights and down through Flinders Uni, where a fire alarm was going off in one of the buildings up in Siberia and by the time I had gone past the building works in the trashed plaza to the bus turnaround by the front office, the fire engine had only made it to there and was presumably seeking advice from the security guys. Just had no energy today even though legs didn't really hurt (and groin was quite a bit better than on Friday). Really need to get back to being able to do this loop in under 80 mins, and to being able to fit comfortably into my favourite jeans again. Perhaps these are not disparate goals?
