Note

Long day out in the countryside taping SA long champs control sites at Merridee with Andrew K. Tempted to log this as 5 hours of 'rogaining' but it probably wasn't quite fast enough, what with all the stopping to place duplicate tags at each site in case the goats eat one of them - and waypoint each location, (although we were moving at least twice as fast as when I was taping sites with my parents for last year's rogaine!). Of course, driving time was about 7 hours also and so I left home before 7am and got back about 9pm, completely stuffed, then foolishly stayed up to check the women's sprint final results coming through from WOC. There are some absolutely magnificent views from the bare hilltops at Merridee and even though it was a fairly cold day I don't think there was anywhere I'd rather have been apart from spectating the WOC sprint in Venice. George says that if Andy Thomas is ever selling Merridee, we definitely want to buy it!

The unexpected tight spot in my calf which was fairly bad last night was really nasty tonight, and when we went up the steps from Long Gully I had to walk them. So then I came back down Jubilee and along the creek. But I was so tired that even going downhill I just wanted to stop & sit down. I thought I knew where a seat was, but it's been moved (I think).

Short one around Colonel Light Gardens before hosting Wallaringa meeting. George helped me get supper ready for the hordes :)

Weir wun awound the wiver wiv Bwidget.

We took the juniors down to the weir, and on the way back crossed on the $40 million Adelaide Oval footbridge. It has a waterfall at one end, but no obvious source of water flowing to that point!

Wet wun awound Hawthowndene with Bwidget.

Down through the pine forest to Coro school and back. When the stepping logs in the creek have turned into floating logs, stepping on them turns them into sinking logs. But shortly thereafter it rained so much that the rest of our clothing became as wet as our shoes.

My legs weren't very cooperative with the planned long run adventure, but Biddy & Zed & I (plus Callum, of course!) went from Zara's up the park boundary to Upper Sturt, down to Pole Rd, up Pole Rd, through Ironbank to Cherry Gardens, down through Mundoo Lane & up to Ilunga, Scott Creek Cemetery, Nicholls Rd, Scott Creek school - from whence Geoffrey kindly escorted us home in his automobile. The original plan was to head across to Mylor and get picked up from there but another 7km would definitely have been too much for me, as I can feel the neuroma in my foot since the rogaine. However, it was a very nice morning to be out, and good company to be with.
