Note
(rest day)

Woke up feeling pretty average and proceeded to spend almost all of a beautiful spring day indoors working on final notes and control descriptions (takes a while, when filtered through my parents) and rogaine map. Tyson is a legend - and he helped me with the legend (plus other finer details).

running hills (Shepherds Hill) 16:36 [4]
shoes: Asics Kayano 18

5x hills: 3:16, 3:14, 3:19, 3:23, 3:24
None of these are remotely satisfactory times but I figured it was good practice for getting tireder with every hill on an orienteering course. So I did 5 even though I wanted to stop at 3.

running (to/from park) 51:17 [3]
shoes: Asics Kayano 18

Fitted in before an 8:30am meeting at FMC. Of course, subsequently getting to proper work an hour late then just meant my whole day ran an hour late...

running (Belair night) 52:56 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel 2160

Trainline-steps loop with Zara/Callum, Fern, Greg, Lauren. Couldn't see where I was putting my feet because I hadn't charged my Ay-Ups and had only the old headlamp. Mind you, Lauren had none! Envious hearing about her Pt Lincoln sojourn.

Note
(rest day)

Also only 12 days until hospital accreditation; if I wasn't already weary enough from that, a random not-really-a-cold-but-just-enough-of-a-sore-throat-and-fever-to-feel-crap has mysteriously manifested itself.

orienteering race 17:20 [4]
shoes: Asics Gel 2160

If I didn't make a conscious effort to go to North Adelaide, I was going to get stuck at work as I have done on a number of recent Tuesdays. So I bailed on wrestling with antibiotic-usage data and was rewarded by getting to do Bridget's junior training sprint course. Great fun, very dark in places but I managed not to stack it. Also managed to stay ahead of Dante (who's 12 but can run the City-Bay faster than I can), just, because he had to stop and answer a maths question from Simon. Oh, and when the kids lined up to start in order of height, it became clear that Emily, at 12, is now taller than me.

running warm up/down 15:23 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel 2160

Wish I'd started trying to get fitter sooner. Only 12 days until the rogaine is all over, though.

running long 1:39:08 [3] 17.2 mi (5:46 / mi)
shoes: Asics Kayano 18

Up through Shepherds Hill to Blackwood, across to Belair, home down Gloucester. Wasn't sure how this would go but I must have gained some endurance from the 6hr rogaine, even if I've lost speed by doing nothing fast in the last month. Nice cool morning in the valleys but when I walked the dog afterwards he complained that the sun on his black fur was too warm already!

Attack of the Killer Physio
Hopefully my back and tail will be better after this pummelling.

running (not a mountains run) 1:11:51 [3]
shoes: Saucony Jazz

Bridge to bridge loop in Penrith, from sister-in-law's in Jamisontown. It took a little while to get to the river, along which I have never run in 12 years of visiting, but was pleasant enough when I got there, and sort of rural in parts. A very hazy morning because of burning off in the mountains - winter is the dry season in Sydney.
