Bowling Green lane loop with Steve Cooper (before George & I had lunch with S&M & kids) from their place on Old Mt Barker Rd - down to Woodhouse, up Gully Rd, down to Mt George, up Old Mt Barker Rd. Glorious sunny morning for it although I'd probably still prefer to do the loop the other way round, then you get only a 1km hill at the end, not 2km :) Was a bit startled when Steve said "This should take under 60 min" because I remembered 70ish from previously, but that's been when the Arrows have started from Bridgewater.

Up through Panorama to the top of Hillrise then the bottom of Gloucester, and down the fire trail, back through the suburbs. Amazing view of city lights and clear sky over the ocean on what is shaping up to be a crisp night (although not by Canberra standards). I am sleeping much better since I put an extra quilt on the bed, but our house is really quite cold anywhere beyond a 6m radius from the gas heater!

Greg joined us tonight (kickstarting his nationals training) and we ran up the inside rim of the park, down Olave Hill Rd, dropping Fern off along Turners, and then Zara/Callum halfway up Rankeys Hill, and then back across the golf course. Felt like I was able to run harder than last night - but also it seemed longer, and it wasn't really.

Okay, so the absolute earliest I can be home from work and out the door running is 5:30. Therefore I took a headlamp which was a good thing as I encountered someone trailbiking illegally in the park! View of city lights from the hilltop with the clouds over the ocean the same colour as them, was rather nice. Neuroma wasn't, though - I'd want to be a lot faster than this in a month's time, but the hamstring/ITB/knee/neuroma thing is rather hampering any sort of speed.

running (Colonel Light Gardens) 33:40 [3]
shoes: Saucony Jazz

Didn't really feel like doing this but given the emergence of a sore throat expect to feel less like it tomorrow. (I guess this is karma for my recent boast that I haven't had a cold since WMOC week last year.) Anyway, wasn't too bad; nice out before rain and I caught a whiff of daphne which reminded me of spring.

Somehow Fern & I fitted this in to the 'sunniest' part of the day, although it was only 5 degrees when we went out and I borrowed her cycling gloves! Across the golf course, past Old Government House, through Echo Tunnel and up past the waterfalls, although they were only trickling this week. Then down the singletrack to the redwoods, up & over the hill, past Melville House, and along the park boundary/Upper Sturt Rd till we got to the Suffolk Rd extension singletrack, down that and we were at the bottom of Turners! Nice run & good company; though neuroma has still retained the bruised feeling in my foot afterwards, which is happening more & more since the Aust Champs rogaine.
