running (Shepherds Hill) 47:02 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel 2160

Hamstring took about 20 minutes to stop hurting though it never really loosened up and all of me was just generally achy. Nice morning in Shepherds Hill though, and also nice afternoon at the Felixstow event which the Arrows were running - John set good courses but the turnout wasn't quite what we'd hoped for. High-or-maybe-low-but-definitely-laugh-light was the 'small weeing dogs' which, under the loose control of an elderly Chinese lady, trotted up and christened not only our noticeboards (don't tell Adrian) but also the backpack of the first competitor to arrive, who had briefly put her pack on the ground - oops!

swimming 35:00 [3] 1.0 km (35:00 / km)

Slept better last night than I had for the past week, so that's a start. Have definitely been sitting at my desk too much, though.
6 PM

running intervals (225s) 6:47 [5] 1.8 km (3:46 / km)
shoes: Saucony Jazz

I only had time for 8 crossings of Mortlock Park before it got dark but I doubt I had energy for more anyway. Appeared to get progessively less slow as I became more sure of where I was putting my feet. Back and hip flexors fairly achy though.

running (Belair night) 30:54 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel 2160

I piked when we got to the train line and surprisingly Tyson, Fern & John all came too. Zara & Simon ventured up the hill into the wilderness with Callum to protect them.

Note
(rest day)

Thought I would rest the tight spot in my knee/shin (but actually all of me is very tight, and I'm feeling generally a bit wound up about all the stuff I have to do, despite the lovely long lunch we had at the Lane Vineyard with Steve and Maya - they gave us a voucher as a wedding present and we convinced them to share it with us for Maya's birthday). Do I really want to run a half on Sunday?

swimming 35:00 [3] 1.0 km (35:00 / km)

Back a bit stiff.
6 PM

running 42:45 [3]
shoes: Asics Kayano 17

Tuesday nights from North Adelaide have started up again but initially only Simon and I were there and I figured that what would be an easy half hour run around the river for him was probably going to push me quite nicely. Down to the weir, up to Hackney Rd and back. Did a lap of the uni loop as warmdown with Vanessa after her intervals; we stopped to talk to Wendy (who is training for North Face 100) on the way.

orienteering race (Blackwood score) 2:58:13 [4] 26.6 km (6:42 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel 2160

Thought I'd better do some nationals rogaine practice with Mark, since despite having been friends for something like 21 years we've never actually rogained together. (He announced that he'd had pasta for breakfast - my sort of guy!) Anyway the map was 1:15 000 covering all of Blackwood/Belair/Glenalta/Hawthorndene/Craigburn/Sleeps Hill and we decided not to do the quarries even though Simon had said "start north" - but then Simon was intending to clean up!

Not sure if it was the most efficient route, but definitely steady - and you are always slower with a pack on. Headed S across trainline, up Magpie Gully, Coro Station, down into Craigburn, up & over to Frank Smith Park & Blackwood Forest, past the Uppills', up & over Main Rd, down Rosella past scout hall, up to & down Laffers, past Pinera station to scout hall on about 2 hours, so we definitely ruled out the quarries and got the ones down through Grevillea way and at then bottom of the big cliff by the trainline, then up past where F&T used to live, down Wilpena to Eden Hills station, up to Shepherds Hill Rd, and we had 7 min left so got the one in Blackwood High.

Could have been better to go down through the quarries first where there were an extra 340 points which Simon got which we didn't - and then to leave out lower points through Craigburn, but I don't suppose it matters since he was the only person ahead of us (significantly so).
