running (Shepherds Hill) 51:52 [2]
shoes: Asics Gel 2160

After spending the day at Thom & Laura's wedding, which was really rather special. Laura looked absolutely beautiful - rainbow socks go perfectly with a traditional wedding dress - and the chief bridesmaid and groomsman (Lauren & Andrew) scrubbed up pretty well! Thom in bow tie, vest & tails was just as sweet & gangly as ever :) BBQ picnic reception in Belair NP was a great idea and lots of fun. The sun even came out for the occasion.

Run was rather too soon after dinner but it's a good thing that I went out for some fresh air because I came home to find parents on the doorstep and they informed us that grandfather has unilaterally decided that he will help us buy a new house - not that we need any financial help - and then we are to build a granny flat out the back which he will move in to!!!!!!

orienteering race (Dry Creek SS) 36:06 [4]
shoes: Asics Kayano 17

Not a lot of route choice but the assembly area was nice, in an old quarry which has been landscaped into a lush bowl with a waterfall. The course skirted Yatala prison, crossed Dry Creek (flowing strongly after the afternoon's rains), went up into Walkley Heights and came back again. Legs still fairly tender. Was briefly chasing Olivia but at 16 she's definitely faster than me (with much longer legs). By the time I passed the accident on Bridge Rd which Biddy caused (not really!) the police were there. Had a good chat to Mark afterwards and we plotted our secret rogaine training.

Note

Attack of the Killer Physio
No really terrible spots beforehand, but a few tender ones now. Was generally tight, hopefully will be a bit looser in a couple of days.

running (Belair) 1:06:20 [3]
shoes: Asics Trabuco

The route choice for this one was rather a collaborative effort. Up past the lake to the train line, up the steep singletrack to the quarry area then down to the waterfall (very glad to be wearing trail shoes), across Jubilee Drive and down the steps in the hope of meeting Zara, then Tyson bluffed that we should go straight up the powerline track and Simon called his bluff, and up the hill we went. My legs nearly wouldn't, being post-physio, but the singletrack down along the southern edge of the park was nice and I am looking forward to running in terrain this weekend.

riding (Brownhill Creek) 59:00 [3] 19.5 km (3:02 / km)

After attending a couple of open inspections in our neighbourhood. Thought I might have left it a bit late in the day to ride the valley but timing was about right in terms of daylight.

Three Hills loop. Expected to be really tired but felt fairly good in head (had finished a couple of work tasks more efficiently than anticipated) and legs until a dog tried to take a piece out of one of them.

My fondness towards corgis has taken a nosedive, shall we say - although admittedly this one may have been crossed with a fox terrier or something. And it was walking perfectly nicely with its owner, then as I ran past it jumped up and nipped at my calf. Not much blood, but 4 teeth marks - and it's still bloody painful! The owner was very apologetic and she said something like "he likes people, but you were running past and he does have sharp teeth". I guess corgis were originally bred to round up cattle and sheep...

From the hotel at Glenelg (a night away having been a present from Geoff's work, but quite frankly, not worth what they paid for it - and the hotel tried to bill us directly because the name on the boss' credit card didn't match the name the room was booked under) south along the foreshore to meet Susanne at North Brighton (Lachlan's grandma's). Last night while walking along the beach with Geoff, I had thought about how I like the ocean when it's stormy. Didn't even voice the thought, but I surely got my wish this morning! The bottom was absolutely dropping out of the sky and the runoff flowing nearly to the rim of the gutters along the Esplanade. I would have won any wet t-shirt competition, and unfortunately dripped all over Fern's car, which we drove to Eden Hills to leave it at Wilpena St.

We then ran back to North Brighton via Flinders Uni, Sturt Ck and Oaklands Pk Station, which took about an hour. Rain had mostly stopped by the bottom of the hill. Pavement was a bit hard on my legs but they held up ok even for the last 20 min by myself back along the beach to Glenelg.
