Basically, 3 big uphills each followed by some downhill. Decided I'd see where the Lynton Urban Connector Trail (or whatever it's called) goes up through the Sleeps Hill quarries, so started off through the streets of Panorama (fierce frigid easterlies at that hour of the morning). Was disappointed in the much-vaunted bike trail; it's just a sealed-over fire track to make it easier for the CFS to get into the quarries, is what I reckon. Anyway, up that, out the top into Caroline Ave, up Gloucester to Belair, down through Hawthorndene (there were some chalk markings on the footpath - S2S - left over from yesterday) and followed the creek towards Coromandel Valley, through the pine forest, up Olave Hill Rd (90 min at the top) along Upper Sturt to Melville House, down into Belair National Park to Long Gully kiosk, up to the tap at the top of the park, by which time I was flagging just a bit, along the outside rim of the park down to Pony Ridge. The singletrack along the fence is very rough and washed out and hundreds of butterflies kept flying up in my face so I couldn't see where I was putting my feet! Down Pony Ridge, along the Brownhill Creek singletracks, and back home through the suburbs.
Time includes drink stops etc but not answering work phone. Didn't get called till I was back on the flat and by then I was almost glad to stop and talk. A bit empty today, even though I took an extra muesli bar. I think it was just that chicken & salad last night wasn't an adequate dinner to long-run on and I haven't eaten any pasta for a week. Arches cramping less than the other day, neuroma only bad between 60-90 as usual, hamstring only tightened on the last big hill, so I think my shoes and I are getting to know each other...dragged out the footspa when I got back from work and sat with my feet immersed, reading a book while convincing the dog not to drink the tub's contents!
