running (Belair) 1:27:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel 2150

This was nice - an early Christmas morning Arrows group run with Susanne, Lauren, Fern, Tyson, Bridget, Simon, John! Through Echo Tunnel, up to the tap at the top of the park, out of the park along the railway line to the giant oak tree at old Upper Sturt station, up Station Rd, back into the park by the Upper Sturt tennis courts and back Long Gully. Lots of stops and conversation, pleasant rain (though it didn't last), two very alert emus eyeing us off and sightings of other orienteers: Lee/Sue Merchant, and Tony Rathjen.

Maybe we should formalise this tradition, not forgetting to include the informal picnic afterwards :)

Maybe also my hamstring/ITB/neuroma would benefit from not running Two Jetties tomorrow, as everything is really tight and I don't think I'd be any good at racing; plus my back/hip is still tender where Kath got stuck into it, and that was on Tuesday.

running (Belair Triangle) 1:03:00 [3] 11.5 km (5:29 / km) +270m 4:54 / km
shoes: Asics Kayano 15

Actually an okay time, though it seemed that a lot of effort was required to achieve this. 32 up, 31 down (4.5km vs 7km I think). Neuroma became really troublesome towards the end but that drowned out the grumbles from my hamstring.

Note the time, people!

I had to be back and prepared for 8am Christmas breakfast at work for which I was providing Woddles (penguin-shaped waffles), as usual. I also managed to get the waffle batter mix lumpy, as usual, and had to wake George up to help me beat the lumps out of it (not for the first time, either. He says that getting pancakes lumpy is my special talent).

Oh, and we now have solar panels! I take no credit for the organisation and payment thereof but have some vicarious pride anyway. It turns out that a 55-year-old fusebox isn't set up to cope with them...so there goes another $3000. Apparently I am getting a new fusebox for Christmas :)

The lake-trainline-lower waterfall-steps-Long Gully loop with Robin, Simon, Bridget, Fern, Tyson, Zara, Lauren. Followed by a picnic supper, which I really didn't need, as I appear to be turning into a Christmas cake (I'm sure it's just my imagination, or maybe my hamstrings, but I felt very pudding-like stumbling up the hills).

Attack of the Killer Physio

It's been over a month (since I had to cancel a previous appointment because of taking George to the vet or something) and this was only a single not a double :( and so while I was delighted to see Kath, she only achieved about 25% of what was necessary...

Note

Belair group run is happening 6.30pm on Wednesday this week, NOT Thursday, and will be followed by a brief picnic in the park (assuming at least one person remembers to bring drinks or nibbles), before we all rush off to do last-minute Christmas stuff.

Fanatics Half Marathon 6am Christmas morning is being considered by some of us as an option...not sure if I'm definitely part of the "us" yet. Two Jetties fun run on Boxing Day could be a less strenuous alternative (but with greater sun exposure 'cos it's at 9am).

running (Monday night) 34:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel 2150

From Fern & Tyson's through the old Eden Hills O-map area across the train line, down to the creek, up the other side, back through Blackwood High. Lost Troy to a busted ankle early on and Tyson kindly walked him back. Eric, Fern, John & Bridget all seemed to enjoy hills more than I did but hopefully Kath will fix that tomorrow. She'll have a lot of ITB work to do!

riding 1:00:00 [3]

To/from Fern & Tyson's at Wilpena St, because I thought I should conquer my fear of riding back down the hill. Half an hour to get there up Shepherds Hill; coming home would have been quicker but I detoured via my geocache in Melrose Park, acting on a report that it had gone missing. Well, it's certainly not in the place where I hid it 15 months ago, so I can only assume that it has been muggled! To a geocacher, this is the equivalent of having a control tampered with or stolen :(

running (Bridgewater) 57:43 [3]
shoes: Asics Kayano 15

Only Fern, Tyson and I turned up to run this morning, because we have underpants of steel! (Admittedly, I only just made it after waking up at 7:30am, having come home from work Christmas dinner at 11:30 last night.)

We took the old, no-longer-marked Heysen trail along the creek, up the hill then down through Engelbrecht reserve to where the bridge across the creek has been out for years, which is why they rerouted the trail. Looking at the icy swirling waters, we decided that we didn't want our underpants of steel to get rusty, so went back into Bridgewater then out the other side under the railway line and back.

Reward was coffee at the Organic Market Cafe and then, since the Stirling Markets were on, I did the last of my Christmas shopping.
