running (suburban jog) 37:00 [2]
shoes: Mizuno Wave Rider 10

I got smart, I massaged my shins before I went out for a run around Colonel Light Gardens. And they felt better than they had all week. Was a warm night with the smell of jasmine in the air, I am afraid we'll have a hot dry spring.

Afterwards spent the evening with the Arrows sorting and bagging maps for the club relays this weekend and when I came home it was 3 degrees warmer than when I went out!

running (Belair triangle) 1:08:00 [3] 11.5 km (5:55 / km) +270m 5:18 / km
shoes: Asics Gel 2130

Up Randell's Reserve to the BP at Belair and back down Gloucester Ave. A bit slow but I wasn't pushing it, being generally tired and more specifically tight in knees and shins. Surely I can't need new shoes already! Nice morning for running and all canines sighted stayed on their side of the fence.

running intervals (chasing greyhounds) 9:30 [4] 2.6 km (3:39 / km)
shoes: New Balance

With Simon, Lauren, Riordan around the uni loop. 200, 400, 600, 400, 200, 400, 200 with 200m recovery in between. For someone with no fast twitch muscle fibres my 200s aren't too bad but nothing explains my complete inability to run the 2nd half of a 400 :(

running warm up/down 48:00 [2]
shoes: New Balance

Decent length warm up to Adelaide Oval and back along the river, plus warm down to Hackney Rd and back behind the zoo. Oh, and the 200m in between intervals where others float along as though they haven't just been sprinting while I try desperately to catch up....(again, this is always a problem for me). Then again, some people just did the warmup.

orienteering race (WMG sprint qualification) 17:38 [4] 2.5 km (7:03 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel 2130

I was invited by Tracy to join others test running her sprint courses at Macquarie Uni for the World Masters qualification race. This was great fun but we were running late so I didn't exactly warm up, or even work out which way north was, until I started. Ran the W35 course fairly cleanly, a couple of control-circle errors where I took the ramp instead of stairs, lost half a minute on one control which wasn't there (just flags, no stands or units) and felt like I was plodding a bit because of heavy shins and the unaccustomed warm day. So a best-case scenario for me would have been about 16 min I guess.

Tracy has had to set 14 courses for this event; if they are all as good as the one I ran then they should justify the effort (and the 50+ controls!)
