running long (trail run) 2:02:00 [3] 20.0 km (6:06 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel 2130

From Chookarloo (Kuitpo) south following the Heysen Trail through Kyeema CP then farmland to Mt Magnificent, and down to my car at the Finniss River crossing. Very soggy and my pack weighed twice as much at the end as it did to start with. I was reminded how much up and down there used to be in orienteering courses at Mt Magnificent. It really is hillbilly country down there!

John & I were within sight of a few other trail running guys for most of it but they were going back the same way for about a 32km trip. I didn't have that in me, in fact I ran out of hill legs towards the end, especially the spur trail up Mt Magnificent itself. The views from the top were pretty good and showed even colder wetter clouds blowing in, so we didn't stay long!

running tempo (Mona fartlek) 20:00 [4]
shoes: Asics Gel 2130

Around Colonel Light Gardens, quite fun in the rain. Got tired towards the end so the in-between bits slowed right down.....

Attack of the Killer Physio

These mid-morning appointments (the only time I can get a double now) are a bugger. After the trouble I had finding someone to hold my pager at work so I could get there on time, Kath was running 20 min late, and afterwards my supervisor asked if I could make my appointments another time because it's "inconvenient" to others. Not exactly convenient for me either! So now I've scheduled a succession of either early or late single appointments, two of which happen to cost a lot more than one double :(

The nerves in my hip didn't hurt until after Kath stirred them up....

running (Shepherds Hill) 47:30 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel 2130

Not as cold this morning as it could have been - actually a perfect morning for a run. And surprisingly I felt good :) Even more surprisingly I did this loop about 3 min faster than previously (and that was already 3 min faster than my original time)!

Note

Stomach still painfully unhappy. I had to feed it milk and cookies in the night!

Note
(sick)

Not sure what the stomach pain was that woke me up in the night - maybe I'd pinched something, or it's an ulcer lurking - but it bothered me for most of the day. Fed it a random assortment of foods in an attempt to soothe the gnawing, but in the end I resorted to appropriating some anti-acid tablets which seem to have done the trick. (That was the one advantage of having to spend the morning helping out in the dispensary.)

Note

running 39:00 [3] 7.0 km (5:34 / km)
shoes: New Balance

Monday night run with John Simon and Fern. Only one hill. Felt faster than it was - I really need to get some speed back.

running long (Kelpie run) 1:41:00 [3] 16.5 km (6:07 / km) +440m 5:24 / km
shoes: Asics Gel 2130

From Zara's at the bottom of Pole Rd up to Ironbank, along to Cherry Gardens, down/up Mundoo Lane, along Ilunga Grove, north on Scott Creek Rd through Scott Creek, through Loftia Park/Sir Mark Oliphant Conservation Park up to Evans Drive, down Woolybutt Rd and then we bushbashed the last 1km back down the hill so it's not counted. All this accompanied by Callum, the 4-month old kelpie, who wanted to chase cars, cows and kangaroos...an easy, not-very-fast run because of redirecting Callum, whose speed up hills is greater than mine even at the end of a run! Zara reckoned she got a tow from him but rather, I'd say it's that my current pace is best suited to marathons :)
