If I had known at the start how bad my calf was going to be, I wouldn't have done this. But it didn't start to hurt until I was halfway to Blackwood, and from there it wasn't that far to Coromandel Valley (though the orienteering was all packed up by the time I got there) and from there it wasn't that far up Olave Hill Rd to find a cache (haven't been up there since the 1997 Metrogaine which Heather Smith and I won), and then it was down into Belair via Long Gully to meet Zara (by which time it was cold and dark and I was very glad of the jumper and torch I'd packed, even if my pack did slow me down) and home via Gloucester Ave.
The best bit: dinner which George had cooked for me. I told him if he actually gets good at cooking I may have to go on strike. The worst bit: pain in my calf with every step from about the hour mark. I kept having to stop to massage and stretch. So this was a very slow run. I don't actually think the damage is in the muscle, rather it's ligaments coming up from my ankle which are really tight on either side. So I can't blame Tuesday's intervals; they came on top of some fairly long runs and it may be time to swap shoes. And get told off by my physio.
