Note
Such an awful night on the Spirit of Tasmania!
Our cabin was near the front of the boat and above the car carrier deck, so as soon as it got rough I was lying awake listening to the clunks and bangs and wondering if any of the cars would fall off the suspended platform and on to ours. George slept okay initially but once he got sick he got really sick! I eventually convinced him to come up to the deserted lounge on the top deck, where the air was fresher, the ghost chairs sway, and the rain was pouring in through the ceiling. It was freezing cold up there and we both eventually ended up sleeping illegally (if you can call it sleep) on the lounges on Deck 7, and we weren't alone!
I honestly don't know why we paid all that money for a claustrophobic cabin, it would not have been worse in the sit-up-seats. Next time I don't know what I'll do. George says there won't be a next time. Poor bastard, he was still pretty green driving back from Melbourne, and when we got out to stretch after a couple of hours' driving we were both still walking like we were on the boat!
