running race (Carisbrooke Classic) 46:15 [5] 10.0 km (4:38 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel 2130
Leaving home before sunrise just to do a fun run - hmm! But I figured 10km on the Little Para trails around Harry Bowey Reserve (Salisbury) was going to be more enjoyable than orienteering at Belair since it would be hot later.
This was a nice small run, similar numbers to Black Hill Challenge. 2x5km loops along the river with little ups and downs, no km markers. First 5km was 43.09, I hoped to take 20sec off that for the next loop and get in under 46, and I increased pace over the last 2km according to plan but only took 5 sec off the first loop's time. I guess I wasn't as fast through the first 3km of the loop the second time round without people to chase.
The time I would like to have - Asher Reynolds did 42.20 and made it look easy! There were 4 other women between her and me. This isn't the fastest of 10km circuits, and I've been training for distance rather than speed, plus I wasn't exactly fresh after yesterday, so I'm not dissatisfied with the time.
