Note
(rest day)

Letting small children balance on your knees because they are scared of the dark in a cave has painful consequences. Found the geocache at Kelly Hill Caves, and went for a swim at Hanson Bay. Saw the chopper fly over, presumably bringing rich and famous people to stay at Southern Ocean Lodge.

Note
(rest day)

Getting up at 3 am to catch the 6 am ferry from Cape Jervis can't be good for anyone! Thankfully the nice lady at our accommodation let us check in early and we all crashed out for a couple of hours after lunch.

running (Belair) 1:06:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel 2130

From the Uppills with Simon, Sus, & Fern. Met John & Zara Soden at the far end of Long Gully and ran through the redwoods then the cherry plantation with them, and straight up to Upper Sturt Rd from Long Gully - they turned left & we turned right to go back & eat Susanne's gingerbread at the Uppills.

Nice morning for it though I took a while to warm up. Was good to get out for a run after being really busy yesterday. Tomorrow involves getting up at 3 am to catch the ferry at 6 to KI with George's sister's family. Also hopefully involves lots of coffee!

Attack of the Killer Physio

This was a bit like a dog holding up its paw to have a thorn removed; it really hurts but you know it will be good for you afterwards. Unlike running at Morialta, which I am not going to do tonight; just going to John's for the feed (traditional pre-Christmas BBQ)

swimming 20:00 [3] 0.4 km (50:00 / km)

The smell in the air today at the pool was of bread from the nearby Tip-Top bakery, rather than the usual fumes from diesel trains heading up the hill to Melbourne. It's quite odd surfacing for air and feeling like someone is holding a sandwich in front of your face (way better than having been farted on by a train though).

running 47:00 [3]
shoes: New Balance

Monday night group run from Brighton to Marino Station via Seacliff and return, same as last month. Still looked too far to go all the way to the lighthouse; anyway my hip was so bad that I had to walk up the steps. Am tentatively looking forward to the physio tomorrow. Meatloaf Dog's hip seems to have gone on him too :( probably from playing too much soccer with guests on Saturday night. George suggested I share my physio appt with the dog!

Took a dip in the ocean afterwards, had to borrow a towel from Troy. Followed by communal fish & chips, had to borrow money from Sus. The reality of fish & chips never lives up to the anticipation, but it was nice to be sociable and huddle together to protect ourselves from the marauding seagulls hovering overhead like stealth bombers.

running long (Bridgewater) 1:20:00 [3] 14.0 km (5:43 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel 2130

Group run from Bridgie with more girls than boys (me, Fern, Sus, Vanessa, Bridget, Simon, Steve, John). Shortcut to Mylor via the new Heysen Trail reroute and Wilson Rd, then back to Aldgate via Aldgate Valley road (kept having to dodge cyclists passing us). This is a really nice valley with a gradual uphill; unfortunately my hip didn't like this but at least it just stayed annoying throughout the run, didn't get worse. Followed the train line (ish) back to Bridgie and feasted on last night's leftovers :)
