Yorkshire Three Peaks Fell Race

What a race. Great atmosphere at the start and lots of great support all the way round.

Started off easy along the road, hit the track up Pen-y-ghent and started to skip past people still feeling easy. 36:28 (90 seconds quicker than 2014). Nice and easy off the top with a lot of people coming past me but had in the back of my head (theres a long way to go still and I'll see some of you later I'm sure). All the way to Ribblehead felt really steady keeping a nice pace.

Hit the road to see my dad, change of bottles and got a banana down while cruising along the road. Plan was to get food in well before climbing Whernside. Chatted to my dad abit and then went off through the Ribblehead checkpoint in 1:33:30 (2:30 up on 2014). Got to the bottom of Whernside with the plan to keep it steady and pick people off. Ended up going past 11 people but others came past me too. At the moment, I had one crampy moment which panicked me a little. Told myself to chill out and keep going. Got to the top of Whernside in 2:11 (7 mins up on 2014). Coming off Whernside, my legs were still twitching with cramp abit. It soon disappeared and concentrated on getting down to Hill Inn.

Met my dad about a mile before the checkpoint and grabbed a new bottle.
As I chatted with him, I forgot about the cramp and was moving well picking off people who had come past me coming off PYG 2hrs earlier. Left my dad at the checkpoint at Hill Inn (2:33 (10 mins up on 2014). Felt not to bad going up Ingleborough but was not moving as well as I should of. Its bloody steep that last section. Got to the top puffing out my arse in 3:12 (16 mins up on 2014). Set off and ran the first 2km ok but then the legs came off...a kept it smoothed. The worse section of race for me ended with me pulling up 30m short of finish cramping in left hip. Then a "woooooo" came from the crowd which just made me laugh. Stumbled into the finish in 3:53 (24mins quicker than 2014).
