Running 5:34:00 [3] 34.0 km (9:49 / km) +1500m 8:03 / km

ROC Day two.

Slept well in the tent last night only waking up a few times. Quick luke warm porridge breakfast, tea and jelly babies and I was off. Nav was spot on throughout but 4 out of 11 controls today I went to yesterday which was a bit boring.

Another tough day but more my distance and time. 2nd overall out of 4 finishes... Not bothered how far I was behind 1st, just really pleased I finished both days. Definitely type 2 fun.

Note

My pack was around 5kg not including water which is good because I didn't skimp. I had a proper gas stove and a small 3/4 sleeping mat. I also had a lot of food but this is a must for me. A proper refuel with hot food/drink at the midway camp means I can run a strong second day.

Running 8:53:00 [3] 51.8 km (10:17 / km) +2500m 8:17 / km

ROC Mountain Marathon Day 1.

What a day. My longest run ever in distance and time. I went through stages of feeling good and running a nice pace (for myself at this distance) and not feeling great at all but it was all about keeping eating/drinking. I did cramp which isn't a surprise but I felt like dealt with it well.

Made some stupid errors on a few controls but generally the nav was good. Ran big sections with other people/teams doing elite but took some different routes and ended up dropping two teams eventually. Ran the last 10km with 3rd place pushing each other on. Very pleased I finished this. Found my dad in the camp field and got a brew on. Spent the night having a good crack with my dad, eating and drinking whisky!

4. 3.31 (Solid)
5. 3.30 (Solid)
6. 3.36 (Tired)

Good session, running about 10s quicker per kilometre than I was when I did this session last year sometime. Fitter? Running with someone else makes you push that little bit more?
