Exploring the Hugh Moore Park and Lehigh Canal in Easton, followed by beer tasting at the Weyerbacher Brewery (and quesadillas which were being sold by a separate vendor/"food truck").

Mostly sunny, low 70s...how could we stay inside?

Hiking 45:00 [2]

At Pool Wildlife Sanctuary in Emmaus, off Rt 29, after getting my car inspected for PA registration. I guess we're officially PA residents now.

I missed the turn off Riverbend Rd because it was missing a sign, but eventually ended up where I wanted to be. Walked most of the trails here which are grass, wood chips, boardwalk, or dirt (most-used ones). Gentle climb up to a high point, then I decided not to descend stone stairs to connect to the sensory trail (which I think is paved, partly) which loops through a field.

The park has an environmental education center and fenced areas with an owl, some kind of raptor, and a vulture (one other division didn't have anything I could see). It also has a trail with PA tree ID tags so a good place to take students/kids needing to do a tree ID project (like I did in biology class). The red pine, though, is only a stump.

Then back to the Little Lehigh Parkway trail, heading south/west this time and crossing under I 78 to visit the trout hatchery/nursery. I'd never seen a golden rainbow trout before but they had quite a few there. Doesn't seem like it would be sporting to stock streams with them as they stand out from the rest.

Distance estimated and includes 10 minutes of wandering around the nursery pools.

Temperature was probably in the mid to upper 60s for both hikes, partly sunny. Gorgeous day for February!

I wanted to get outside because it was almost 60, so I started out, but stopped to chat with neighbors for a bit, so I just did a loop around the block plus to the end of one street to check building progress.

Yoga 50:00 intensity: (45:00 @1) + (5:00 @2)
slept:7.0

Stability was the focus. First time I ever balanced on one foot...on a yoga block. I've balanced on squishy mats before but not on a squishy surface three inches in the air. Some other more-than-usual intensity stuff today too. Very good class.

Trexler Nature Preserve hike near the Lehigh Co Zoo. General Trexler donated the land to protect elk and bison about a hundred years ago.

Lots of climb on the blue trail made me suggest an alternative plan to Glen from our original route. Lovely park; lots of folks out on this gorgeous 60+ degree day.

Route: from the parking area at The Ford, near the center of the map (see link above) where the road fords the Jordan Creek, we took the blue trail on the west side of the creek and crossed a footbridge, climbed a spur to a view point (#13), then (instead of our original plan to return via the blue trail and then take the teal trail to the environmental education center) took the road past the bison (about 8-10 in a fenced wooded area) to the red trail and then to the eec. We returned via Old Packhouse Rd to the red trail at Geiger's Covered Bridge, opting to take the west side because several large groups started up the east side at about the same time.
