Pilates class (weights) 50:00 [1]
slept:6.0

Up early for a pre-physical blood draw (missed my alarm but made it within a minute of the appt time and was out in <10 minutes), then to Starbucks for breakfast. Pilates was good to get back to after two weeks.

Trying the elliptical for the first time in months. While I didn't have any foot or knee pain, the quads tired quickly even down a level from normal, so I stuck it out for 15 minutes, then went to walk a mile on the track. I should try this again and see if I can go longer next time at the Y.

Adductors (to see if i can get the right knee back in alignment) and stretching after.

Walking (indoor track) 20:00 intensity: (3:38 @1) + (16:22 @3) 1.2 mi (16:40 / mi)

After checking out of Truckee motel, we drove down the west side of Lake Tahoe and stopped at DL Bliss State Park and hiked on the Rubicon trail, up the side trail to the (defunct) lighthouse, and a bit farther but not as far as Emerald Bay; we turned around at one of the overlooks. Track (and time/distance) don't include the descent to the lighthouse from the lighthouse trail, a matter of ~2 contours climb on a staircase.

Then we continued our journey back to Sacramento (from which we flew home on Tuesday). No sense hurrying down to Sacramento where the high was supposed to be near 100 during the day. It was sunny and upper 70s near the Lake. :-)

US Champs Day 2 at Little Truckee Summit, Brown X. SL 4.2 km, 75 m climb. Temp near 60 at start and well into 70s later, still sunny.

Added FR track, which is missing about 250 m between 1 and 2 because I pushed off instead of lap...still getting used to the buttons on my 220. Time is from my splits printout from download.

No stupid-steep climbs to start today, and only one other steep climb up to the to control, but both were only 3 contours, not 6 or more. I might have climbed too high from the trivial-1 (up a trail to a bend) across a hillside to 2, but I picked out all the rock shortly before the control to fine tune the approach. Stuck pretty close to the straight line for most of the rest except to 7 where I took the jeep road about halfway which provided a good attackpoint and angle of approach and wasn't that far out of the way. Woods were more open and less trashy than yesterday and I was able to jog a lot more than yesterday, so I'm very happy with my time.

Natalia must have enjoyed the woods better today too as she smoked the course (a good 6 minutes ahead of second place on Brown X, I think), at 40 minutes.

8th in Brown X on the day, 2nd F60 for the champs, and 2nd in the "best two of three races" so I got a nice tile with the meet logo printed on it.

Walking warm up/down 30:00 intensity: (20:00 @1) + (10:00 @4) 1.5 mi (20:00 / mi) +40m 18:28 / mi
shoes: Inov8 ORoc280-A 2013-08

Time and distance estimated. Climb was from finish back up to jeep road to assembly area.
