Running (paved) warm up/down (jogging) 12:00 [2] 1.1 km (10:55 / km)
shoes: Trail NB 704 8.5D

Warm up and cool down, along road between Pineridge XC ski area lodge and North trail system where the race started. Temp in upper 20s so pretty ideal for a race. Very light snow at start, a bit heavier as we left after the race/awards.

Snowshoe race 48:22 [4] 4.66 km (10:22 / km) +69m 9:39 / km
shoes: Dion 121 snowshoes

(Trail NB 704 shoes)
First of the season snowshoe race. No expectations except to finish. Familiar faces from other WMAC snowshoe races were nice to see (and even another orienteer, cmorse, made his way there). Ran all the downhills, most of the flats, and some of the gentler uphills. Managed to stay within sight of Jamie H most of the way, and passed Phyllis F in the first km and stayed ahead. Passed one more woman and that was it. Finished 47 of 53, 13th woman of ~16. First woman was a 20-year-old who finished 4th overall, in 26:00. Organized by WMAC and CRNA.

12/31--Updated placing based on posted results.

Note

Back home after Christmas with the family. Have about 4" or so on the ground; we got off easier than Albany and points north in eastern New York, apparently. Will likely go out later and shovel around the mailboxes, though it's probably been packed down some and frozen into a mess.

Note

Snow around mailboxes wasn't as icy as I'd feared so I had it cleaned up within about 15 minutes. Still slushy and heavy, though.
