Orienteering race (green course) 1:17:13 [4] *** 5.2 km (14:51 / km) +190m 12:33 / km
spiked:8/11c shoes: Jala Jukola Spider 6 #3
NEOC - Nobscot Scout Reservation. Temp in mid-70's and mostly sunny (humid). Brand new shoes worked fine with insoles from older shoes of the same type.
Pretty satisfied with this run too; slight bobbles only (off to one side or the other but the right distance) on 3, 9 (overran a little; it seemed more "in the woods" than "at the edge of a clearing") and 10 (which I circled too far downhill and then mis-read the clue...), but probably only a minute or two total lost.
Red and Green (at least) had the same first control, about 450m SSW of start; most folks I saw were starting out to the east and running trails part way, but I started on the trail SW to the first big wiggle, and then cut up through the woods which I think was a good choice and good intro to how the woods were.
Nice weekend, but my legs are toast. :-) We had a nice conversation with a fellow from BAOC (in the area to visit family -- Jim Wright?), and Peter and Gail before heading out to lunch and then back home. I was second on green (of maybe 10-12?) when we left, about 5 minutes behind some fellow I don't know. Good effort. And an interesting course on a new-to-us map.
Note
Okay, it was more like 3 minutes of errors (at least from my recollection). And I was 2nd out of 8, according to the splits loaded by NEOC/Ken.
