Walking 30:39 [3] 2.0 mi (15:19 / mi)

66S, past the scarydog again. I think I just woke him as he wasn't barking too loudly when I went by first. He was noisier on the way back home.

[In the spirit of PG and Swampfox...] I was looking through photos, thinking about filing ones taken in the last 5-6 years (yes, I'm that far behind!), and I came across this blast-from-the-past from spring 2000 in MA (Troll Cup/Relay Champs). I can't find the results page on the NEOC site (and I'm too lazy to dig out the ONA) so I don't know what place these all are, but my son Greg is among the placers. ;-) This is when he was still orienteering.... Also seen are coach and Hillary, Mr & Mrs Childs, and Scott F.

Running (paved) 35:26 [3] 3.0 mi (11:49 / mi)
shoes: Saucony Shadow 6000 8.5 #2

Cold to start but okay after I warmed up (at about the half-way point), at 34 degrees.

Actually, it felt good to run after slug-ness of the last week-plus. I just wish I didn't have to deal with temperatures below 35-40. I'm happiest when it's around 50-55 (but then, isn't everyone who runs?).

Note

Eating too much and not getting enough exercise. Things will have to change...

Friday Dec 22, 2006 #

Walking 28:24 [3] 2.0 mi (14:12 / mi)
shoes: Saucony Shadow 6000 8.5 #2

Quick walk, mailing a last-minute Christmas card along the way. Light drizzle, but temperature was fine (~38-40).

Exerc. Class 55:00 [1]

5-5-5 program (5 min step, 5 min aerobics, 5 min weights x 2) plus regular warm up/cool down and stretching. Jingle Cats rock! :-)

Monday Dec 18, 2006 #

Note

Fixing Glen's car (okay, I took it to the dealer to BE fixed), 2-1/2 hours.

Saturday Dec 16, 2006 #

Walking hills 40:57 [3] 2.6 mi (15:45 / mi)

Alb Tpk loop to add hill climbing to my walk. :-) Felt good, though it was a little colder than I like (a raw, damp 42).

Thursday Dec 14, 2006 #

Walking 44:17 [3] 2.9 mi (15:16 / mi)
shoes: Saucony Shadow 6000 8.5 #2

Around the M.B. loop, clockwise (the ever-so-slightly longer way). :-)

Exerc. Class 55:00 [2]

Tough class for upper body (or at least my arms/shoulders were well worked-out).

I just noticed the new(?) choice of 0 intensity for workouts. IS that new? Who would list a workout if it was 0 intensity??

Exerc. Class 55:00 [2]

Another good, tough class (or maybe it was the fact that I ran twice over the weekend?) that I could really feel in my legs.

Orienteering 1:39:47 [3] 5.3 km (18:50 / km)
shoes: Jala Jukola Spider 6 (old)

Part of Green Y course from Halloween Howl (Oct 2004). I skipped #6 and #10-13. I missed on a few of them (the first three), so it was good training in relocation. I wasn't too far off, but 100 m or so costs time in a real race.

Added distance (straight line between the controls I visited) after Glen calculated it for me. :-) D'oh! Listed it in miles, not k -- changed that too.

Running (paved) 29:33 [3] 2.5 mi (11:49 / mi)
shoes: Saucony Shadow 6000 8.5 #2

Oooh, all the way up to 36 F and sunny. Still, there was a bit of breeze that nipped my face and hands. I do hate running in winter...

Thursday Dec 7, 2006 #

Note

Christmas shopping. The only exercise I got was walking from one end of the mall to the other. I always pass people, so I'm getting some exercise, aren't I?

Wednesday Dec 6, 2006 #

Exerc. Class warm up/down 55:00 [2]

Tuesday Dec 5, 2006 #

Walking 28:37 [3] 2.0 mi (14:18 / mi)
shoes: Saucony Shadow 6000 8.5 #2

Quick walk. Tried out new neck gaiter for aerobic activities (by the Turtle Fur company) in the cold. Once I figured out how to get it to stay up it worked pretty well at keeping my face and ears warm in the 30F & breezy weather.

Monday Dec 4, 2006 #

Exerc. Class 55:00 [2]

Good workout today; my legs are tired (or is that from yesterday?).

Sunday Dec 3, 2006 #

Orienteering race (green course) 1:06:15 [3] *** 4.22 km (15:42 / km)
spiked:8/9c shoes: Jala Jukola Spider 6 (old)

WCOC Five Ponds meet. Slow in the technical (read: off trail) areas, mostly because of footing, faster on the trails (duh). :-) I was pleased with my time.

My bobble was due to not having gone far enough or not going in the right direction, but I recovered quickly once I determined the control was not at the foot of the cliff I was near (I was 80 m off; dropped down the hill too early).

Friday Dec 1, 2006 #

Running (paved) 42:23 [4] 3.64 mi (11:39 / mi)
shoes: Trail NB 705 8.5D

66S to Richmond as far as Bashford Rd. (Glen just ran this earlier in the week so I know how far it is.)

I got out early, even before eating breakfast (I had a banana and some coffee), to take advantage of the 62 degree weather, which is now (at noon) down to 50. Shorts and T-shirt, but it was very humid.

20:37 out, 21:46 back home.
