Orienteering race (Sprint 1S) 22:35 [5] *** 2.4 km (9:25 / km) +40m 8:41 / km
spiked:11/14c shoes: Jala Jukola Spider 6 (old)

Per k time bogus because of the skipped control.

Round 1 of sprint finals. Managed to mess up #4 (misread the paved rectangles) and #13 (slow; was reading the trails too much instead of looking for the parking lot corner). And I managed to completely ignore #11 (too much oxygen debt on the long run?). Oh well, the result was my placement in the group I should have been in anyway. Fun, fun course in part open and part wood. Thanks, J-man!

Orienteering race (Sprint 2S) 35:26 [4] *** 2.32 km (15:16 / km) +55m 13:39 / km
spiked:13/14c shoes: Jala Jukola Spider 6 (old)

Good run except for the one I messed up (#6, long leg). Reason: I didn't stick to my plan (I was drawn in the "wrong" direction by a passing pack led by Pavlina). Ended up relocating from the road leading northeast out of the parking lot, a lot farther up than I should have been. Original plan was to go east to the trail and run the trail to the spur just before the trail junction and head NE-N from there. I just drifted too far NE to ever have a hope of hitting the trail and had to go into recovery mode (hi, Valerie!).

Orienteering race (Sprint Final AS & B) 29:49 [5] *** 2.54 km (11:44 / km) +80m 10:09 / km
spiked:14/15c shoes: Jala Jukola Spider 6 (old)

Managed to mess up #3 on the first loop (AS); started with Valerie and was not far behind her all the way to #3, but she knew which trail we were on (along the power line; I thought we were on the SE-heading trail and was confused when we were too close to the road) and she managed to correct faster and pull away after that; I never saw her again. I was passed by Maprunner between 3 and 4 but pulled ahead on the road run from 4 to 5; we traded places twice again on the second loop (she started 2 minutes behind me).

Thanks to both J-man and Randy for awesome sprint courses in very interesting terrain.
