From Uni to St Leonards, back around past the inlet and then turned around and came home. Knee seems ok on the bike, still felt it a wee bit though. Was thinking of going to the gym as well, but canned it and just did my strengthening exercises and stretched at home.

Note
(injured) (rest day)

Body seems a bit battered from the weekend, although my wisdom teeth are giving me headaches that probably make everything else feel worse. Relatively happy with the results, not really focusing on orienteering at all and managed some good results even if the runs weren't perfectly clean. Felt strong running in both middles and the runnable sections of the long. Definitely got some good aerobic base back in the last month of mileage, even if I did ruin my knee in the process.

Knee is the main problem at the moment, definitely can't ignore it now. Taking this week to rest, stretch and ice it, as well as catch up with work and sleep. Will try and do some gym stuff and biking next week as that doesn't seem to hurt it nearly as much as running or even walking. If its still a problem after that I'll see someone about it.

Strategy for getting back into training with it includes
- Find some strengthening and stretching exercises for my knee as well as the one for my ITB
- Biking and rowing to replace some mileage
- Tempo runs on the treadmill with a gradient to be easier on the knee
- Focus on completing two key runs each week and swapping out the rest if necessary.

Orienteering race 39:06 [5] 6.0 km (6:31 / km) +100m 6:01 / km
shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212 (Pair 3)

QB day 3, Middle at Tuhaitara. Knee pretty sore warming up, but the drugs and adrenaline were enough to race on it. Really poor start, didn't commit to the track or just straight lining it and ended up in between. Found a control on a different hill with a similar code and repeatedly convinced myself I was in the right place. Good 2-3mins down the drain. Bit annoyed after a bad start and ran hard, but too aggressive for the detail. Loads of little mistakes, probably worst one at 8 which I though was a hill not a gully. Caught Tane half way round (he appeared behind me at least). Had some good pace after that, wheels almost feel off near the end, but kept it together to sneak in front of Jonty for 3rd place. Not happy with the run, could have been a whole lot more clean and controlled, but almost everyone had mistakes so pretty happy to take another podium finish.
