Orienteering race 17:31 [5] 2.7 km (6:29 / km) +95m 5:31 / km
shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212

Nationals Sprint M20. Bit of mediocre run really not bad but not good. started well, took it easy to the first control then pushed the pace a bit out around the fields/tennis courts area. didn't really loose anytime until 11 where I made a stupid decision to go though the buildings costing me about 10 secs but mainly not leaving me time to plan 12 which lost me 20-30 secs as I got the exit direction wrong then went to the wrong side of the building. 13 good 14 a bit shaking and then decided to go over the hill which I think was good but I hesitated coming into the re-entrant. Felt myself slow down through 16-17 and then missed the gap at 18 (25 seconds lost), put the pace on through the spectator area as I new where they all were. last loop was painful and made a miss of 25 (15 secs). so probably 1:30 lost which is not to great for a sprint. Came 7th

Jogged down to Hansen park did some dynamic stretching followed by 4x100m strides then jogged home again. Feeling really good so should be going fast this weekend even if I'm not navigating well, getting pretty excited now only 2 days.

Orienteering race 45:11 [5] 7.4 km (6:06 / km) +265m 5:11 / km
shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212

SI Schools long distance at Butchers damn (same map as nationals long distance 2010). Forgot to wear my GARMIN so length is direct length etc. was much more focused in this race and was navigating really well from the start. Caught Ryan (3mins) at control 2 and then left him on the way to 3. was pretty clean through the whole course just a couple of 10-15 second mistakes in the circle. pretty good run all up and beat Ryan by twenty something minutes.

Felt really good physically this weekend and felt like I could push really hard the whole way through the course. Now I've just got to recover and do it again at nationals.

Orienteering race 33:12 [5] 4.73 km (7:01 / km)
ahr:179 max:186 shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212

SI Schools middle distance at the same place as nationals sprint last year. Had an alright run but it was a bit messy in places, really need to have better map contact and concentrate less on just running as fast a possible. got a bit worried towards the end as I hadn't seen Ryan and he started 3minutes ahead of me. In the end Ryan mp'd but would have done 56 minutes anyway.
