Run 1:03:00 [3] 7.8 km (8:05 / km) +343m 6:37 / km

Stopped off on route to N Wales for a run on Stiperstones. I reckon about 30 years since we were there last. I remembered it as very heathery with lots of rocks underfoot, making it very unpleasant for Orienteering , but I had forgotten how rocky the main ridge path is. Much nicer in valley and paths on Western side as we looped back.

Absolutely stunning day, so Alice and I went for an outing up Skirrid. Don't think I have ever seen so many people up there - half term. Everyone enjoying the sunshine and great views.

It certinly beat skulking indoors on the computer, tho' it did mean Newboro planning, map printing etc had to be finished off on Saturday morning which resulted in not going to Rhobell Fawr race. But still feeling a little bit coldy, so perhaps not a bad call in any case.

Would like to go to Rhobell Fawr sometime tho' - youtube video of the race route, suggests it might make an O area.

Mountain Marathon race 4:06:25 [3] 24.4 km (10:06 / km) +919m 8:30 / km

OMM day 2.

2nd mixed pair so in the seeded start - i.e. early again so avoided the crowds which was nice. Course not as interesting as day 1 - Navigation pretty straight forward mainly down the main Offas Dyke ridge, diving steeply down the side in some places and back up ! Didn't play to our strengths but enjoyable running on the main ridge in such lovely light with great views either side

Didn't enjoy wading down thru the bracken on the last steep descent tho' - Alice swearing loudly which is pretty unusual for her.

Second Mixed pair and first mixed vets - which meant a new top for Alice / bum bag for me.

Also great to finish by midday - plenty of time to socialise at the end and still get home before it was dark..

Only signifcant damage , one badly bruised big toe nail.
