Hanging some tapes for Chloe, Cecilie and Clare at Blakeney Hill. Lovely day, but my ankle feeling really niggly and weak. in the terrain. Opted not to do the night fell race on the Blorenge, and think I might take a few days off running to try to get my ankle sorted.

Sociable run from MDC HQ - last of the winter. Sexy Dave had some new shoes, so Marcus opted for the muddiest possible route to start - over the Taff and then north. Even he gave up and opted for the road around Coed y Gedrys instead of the route by the river we have waded along in the past.
After that just nice and soft - around by the Church Village by pass and then up the Garth in the cloud.

Run 58:00 [3] 10.7 km (5:25 / km) +220m 4:55 / km

Monday night run with Keith, Cecil, Christian and Ben - once he had remembered where we were meeting . Gentle loop around Leigh Woods. Garlic coming up nicely in the eponymous valley. Perhaps enough of a hill there for Keith to stop talking. Apart from that, his level of fitness clearly belied his protestations. Good to have him back....

Orienteering race 58:53 [4] 5.5 km (10:42 / km) +290m 8:28 / km

Compass Sport Cup at Cwm Lickey . Good fun and an area I always enjoy, despite its physicality. A pity there has been so little snow this year - the dead bracken could have done with being flattened a bit more.

Middling run. Bad miss on 3. Steep hill off 2 pushed me a bit to the left and I continued on that trajectory, then got a bit confused by flowing water in he re-entrant - which was acually the one I wanted, just too low. Thought it must be one of the watercourses on route for the control. Lost a good 2 minutes .

Ok in teh middle section if a bit scrappy in places. Even more scrappy at the end - nothing major but could have saved 30 s or so on both 14 and 16 with better routes.

Still, result was pretty decent, and ranking position should soar - courtesy of an un characteristic performance from Clive.
