Event: QOC Jug Bay

9 AM

Orienteering race (JB Orange) 59:15 [3] *** 5.0 km (11:51 / km) +40m 11:24 / km

FR = 3.79 miles with 43 m climb

Orange at QOC Annual Beer Chase - though I didn't drink beer, and I didn't "chase". Eschewed the mass start at high noon for an earlier start at ~9:35. This was done under the guise of needing to be back to handle to chaos that is the mass start, but really it was because I hate starting so late in the day in June. And thank goodness I did, because the heat was brutal, - over 80 at 10 am, and so hot in the sun when having to cross the field back to the S/F... Thank you to Ted for having the courses ready even before the 10 am that had been agreed on.

Picked Orange because a very short glance at the courses showed that it looked more fun than the advanced courses. Feeling so sluggish after yesterday's excess. Winning was totally unexpected, but I was able to do some advanced orienteering, and I only had a small issue with #5.

Of note on how hot it was, on returning from the first 3.8 k loop, I took off my shirt and did the 1.2 loop in sports bra only. Only a product of the heat, not a testament to my six pack...that still needs some work.

After finishing, and getting the masses out, I enjoyed a chill day in the shade of Big Red, overlooking the water, and having enough breeze to keep me cool, but not so much that Big Red went sailing away. A very good day.

Thank you Amy, Mary S., Tori, Hannah, Kevin, Sara, Alli, and Barney to making this a fantastic year of epunching! I couldn't have done it without you all!

Sadly, I saw no turtles all day, despite the promising sign on the way into the park...

Note

I drove Roger to the airport this morning and was back home at 5 AM. The rest of my day "off" played out like this:

Ate breakfast (bagel and a large amount of cream cheese)
Nap
Ate Lunch (bagel and a large amount of cream cheese)
Nap
Ate a bag of caramel creams (8 of 10 servings - ate the other 2 yesterday)
Nap
Ate more candy (good 'n plenty - 5 servings)
Nap
Ate mac & cheese (2.5 servings)
Watched NCAA T&F
Ate cookies (who cares about the servings at this point?!)
Bedtime

Agh!

I really don't seem to do too well by myself, or maybe this is just a boomerang, and day to day I would be fine...not going to evaluate it, right now.

Note
(rest day)

Another long day in Philadelphia helping my aunt get admitted to the hospital - pneumonia. After an overly long ride home - 4.5 hours instead of 2.5, I just wanted dinner and a shower. I am beat, so I am fine with it being a rest day.

Walking 42:19 [1] 2.25 mi (18:48 / mi)

A somewhat stressful day which included driving from Arlington and picking up my aunt from the Philadelphia airport. She was pretty ill while on her trip to Kenya, and I wanted to see her for myself, and get her settled at home, or to the hospital, if necessary. For now, she is settled at home, so I was able to swing by Sandy's to pick up something I left behind at the Water Gap last weekend.

Was ready to bag the 30 minutes of exercise per day streak that I had going, but then Sandy suggested a hike, and after just a little hesitation on my part, we were out the door and doing a pretty brisk loop on a perfectly lovely evening. Thank you, Sandy.

Back at my aunt's, and all is quiet.

Biking 41:36 [2] 8.07 mi (5:09 / mi) +14m 5:08 / mi
weight:177lbs

The view out of my office window - just too pretty to not take a late lunch and go out for a little ride.

SO HARD into the 16-24 mph wind. Blown sideways at time.

Legs are fatigued - so even if they had said go, go, go, the smart thing was no, no, no.

A good day.

Note

Rogaine report up.
12 PM

Swimming 30:00 [1]
weight:176lbs

Long nap yesterday, therefore not much sleep last night. Woke up this morning feeling like a big party had taken place on my face. Swimming at lunchtime cleaned/cleared that right up.

Right kneecap pain, as well as lateral hamstring pain, but otherwise just waiting to see if poison ivy erupts all over or not before declaring that I didn't hurt myself this past weekend.

Nest next door has two fresh eggs in it!

Walking 33:55 [0] 2.19 mi (15:29 / mi) +33m 14:48 / mi
weight:174lbs

Took a leave day - very stiff and sore, and worn out in general.

Waited to after dinner and then got a walk in...mostly on the track for the softer surface. Wore knee brace.
