Biking 1:45:00 [3] 20.73 mi (5:04 / mi) +119m 4:59 / mi

Cool morning, around 50. Dressed perfectly in shorts, loose long sleeve and a shirt vest. Shoes were closed toe, and gloves were finger full.

Down to my work location just to avoid the usual trip to the airport and back. Kind of a rudderless effort, but it was mindless, so I was content.

New helmet and Easter egg inspired shirts.

Misc (Power washing) 10:00 [1]

After a bit of a nap, I spent my last afternoon of spring break power washing the deck and removing the green crud from the siding. Sore muscles a day later when lifting my arms, so it counts.

Note

Pancakes for breakfast, and then Lailah wanted to do some gardening, so we planted some seeds, which may have been a bit premature...

Helping Roger fix the leaky hose...

And, then we got Lailah a new helmet because the watermelon head one has gotten too small. After lunch of grilled cheese sandwiches, it was off to the playground, and then Sarah and Lailah hit the road. I hit the bed for a two hour nap. One more day of Spring Break. The week has flown by!

Swimming 55:00 [1]

Pool not open for noon swim, so I needed to get this in before the 8:30 morning closing.

Didn't sleep well after seeing this very large spider in the upstairs bathroom. Later, it was downstairs in a storage container. I know it was the same one, because there couldn't possibly be more than one in the house. Except, now there have been two baby ones spotted on the kitchen ceiling.

Anyway, dragged myself out of bed at 7:15, shoved a banana into my mouth, and to the pool and into the water by 7:35. Had to swim in the Instructional pool, which is warmer, and starts at 2.5' and ends in the diving well. So, different feeling than the other pool. Also, I was creaking and coughing. Good practice for the 7:15 start time for the May race, but not my favorite time to swim, that's for sure. But, I swam, so there is that.

Note

Sarah and Lailah are here to spend the night, and after a quick session with the vintage My Little Ponies, Lailah asked to dust off Nana's dollhouse.

She did a great job, and we had a great time looking at all of the furniture. Dusting that off and arranging it in the house is a project for the next time...

Sarah finished Lailah's Easter dress - it is twirly!

My beautiful Lailah!

4 PM

Biking 10:00 [1]

Left it a bit later, but we squeezed in a ride out to the frog pond.

Only saw turtles - three on the log, and plenty of goldfish (not pictured).

Hard riding slightly uphill and into the wind on the outbound. Could hear Lailah imploring Sarah to peddle faster, and that Grammy was getting away.

Walked up the hill at the end. Tried to talk Sarah into driving down to the bottom. She will listen to me next time.

Biking (Evansville IN) 1:10:00 [1] 12.0 mi (5:50 / mi)

Cracked my helmet...

I am such a tease. :). The rest of the story...

Took my bike with me to Indiana and today was the day for a ride. There is a 6 mile trail which I took out and back. On the way out, I crossed train tracks twice, each time dutifully dismounting through the slow down chicane, noting that one of the crossings could be done on the road instead, avoiding the forced dismount.

So, on the way back, I avoided the chicane, but a car was coming, so I waggled out of the way and then back onto the tracks, and then moved at a weird angle and ended up with my front wheel in the rut and immediately keeled over. On the good news side, I was stopped dead, so I didn't slide, so no road rash. More good news - there was no train coming. Bad news was that I smacked my head so hard that I felt a bit of pain, and the helmet cracked. Good news was that I was wearing a helmet, and I wasn't badly injured. Just some bruising on my butt, side, and knee. Neck stiffen up two days later, but otherwise I am fine, and lesson learned.

Walking 5:00 [1]

Walked the aunt and Chloe and another pooch from the b&b too.
